I know it's an old story but I'm sick of being blocked for no reason.

I don't mind if I've been in contact and the other person has no interest in me whatsoever, but at least tell me that this is the case and not block me without saying a word. It just makes me think I've said something wrong.

Or maybe it's just the stigma of being a single guy that seems to annoy people.

nope. it's just easier to block than reject someone.

if i've been chatting to someone and they do put me off them somehow i will tell them that, next message back they think they know what i want and tell me this, that, and the other to try and get me to become interested in them again. and despite knowing they will do that i will still tell them anyway. do think it's fair to let someone you were previously interested in know why you aren't.

after that i ignore them, will block if i have to but they usually go away.

That's not true. Indiscriminate blocking of guys is a constant feature of online dating. If I wasn't interested in someone I'd say it and not take the cowards way out and block them. But maybe I'm just old fashioned.

Blocking on here is an interesting subject.

Used in the correct way after 'no' is not accepted as a valid rejection is OK.

However to tease, request friends status, arrange a meet then block is rude.

Anyone can join this site, so I think just move on there are a few real members on here who do want fun.

some guys it might be better to block though, i do think they might take any form of communication as a sign that a person is polite and therefore might be able to be convinced to meet them out of politeness.

like i get email notifications from POF, have hidden my profile on that site coz i'm not using there for now, same day someone added me to favourites and has messaged me every day since, first thing i'll be doing when i go back on that site is just blocking him. doesn't make sense to message someone every day who has not expressed any interest in you.

I have to agree sometimes I come across profils and just block them because I don't want to do anything with them. Simple as that.

It's not rude to block people without explaining why. If you were in a pub, and tried to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger, you wouldn't be surprised if they walked away. Some people just don't want to interact with you (on Fab OR in real life). Once you realise this, your time on Fab will be much more enjoyable.

I can understand your frustration OP, but try and look at it from the other person's/peoples point of view.

We get a lot of messages from people who clearly haven't read our profile (which is quite clear and comprehensive as to what we're looking for). We took the time to write it and it gets a bit irritating when people haven't even taken the time to read it and find out a bit about us before they get in contact. If we get this sort of message then it generally gets ignored and deleted, but we don't block people at this point. We generally only block people if we get repeated messages like this from the same person.

If someone has obvious taken the time to read our profile, and messages with a face photo (as requested) and more than a generic one liner, then we'll take the time to reply, even if we're not interested, because it's good manners.

If you're continually getting blocked by people, then I would have a think about your approach - maybe you need to make sure you understand what they're looking for, see if you match their criteria age wise etc and perhaps change what you say in your first message. Some people may still block you if they're not interested, they possibly think it's the easiest way to whittle down the membership in order to find what they're looking for, who knows. But if you feel you've been polite etc in your initial approach, then try not to take it personally if you get blocked for no reason.
