I don't mind rock and metal. I've had many a phase, from Celtic punk to thrash metal, ska, but my main love is electronic music now

as a 40-soemthing I don't think the DL line-up is all that, as ever if you took all the bands I want to see and put them on a 1-day line-up it'd be a no-brainer, but Rammstein and Sabbath don't appeal, seen the Sabs too many times and they bore the crap out of me these days. Bloodstock has a killer headline roster this year, Slayer/Anthrax/Gojira/MAstodon/Venon/Twisted Sister (and if you've never seen the latter you need to, and this si their final UK show!). Maiden are likely to do a UK arena tour later in the year

To be honest I've only heard of a couple of bands at DL so can't see the point myself although the architects are playing there which I giggled at as they are RnB lol.

The line up for IOW is pretty good even though

I saw most the bands at V last year lol but it's the stereophonics they get my vote all day every day lol Kelly is my crush ha ha

Tell me about it last year 'v' cost me about £450 all in.

Sounds such a lot but if you work out what each band would cost to see seperate it's good value. Just the food and drink which costs the earth, the first day we managed to sneak in a couple of bottles of vodka but the second day no such luck thank god we mixed it with a soft drink in the water bottles as we were made to neck it Lol.

we decided festivals rather than a summer holiday This year I think it creates more memories than laying on a beach. But might have a cheeky week away in November if it doesn't get cancelled again hahah.

I simply cannot justify paying the average British festival ticket price, when I could travel to and enjoy a European festival, and still have change leftover.

Dour festival in Belgium, for instance, costs 80€ for 4 days, including camping! It's a huge festival with immense lineups every single year

Having been to all the Monsters of Rock, and most of the previous Download festivals, I'll be giving it a miss this year. Me and 3 mates decided to walk there one year after stumbling out of the Rockhouse, Derby in a d*unken haze at 3 am. Bad idea

Have seen most of the bands at least once anyway, if not there then on their own.

As others have said there are some good festivals in Europe, so may get to one of those next year

Not fussed about any of the main stage headliners if I'm honest but there's' always more going on than that

Staying in a hotel in Derby and getting the shuttle bus in each day - works out same price as the RIP camping so can't grumble

Been to all the downloads, bar one and this is the first time, I haven't bought RIP tickets, by August

Only know one person who has bought a ticket so far , everyone is disappointed with the announcements so far, except for Rammstein, plus I can't justify the increase to nearly £500 for my ticket this time for nothing extra!

Gutted if I don't go.

Personally I think Andy Copping has got the bands wrong so far

We normally stay at the Days Inn in Derby, waaay cheaper than RIP camping, and it's not a bad little hotel at all.

Last few Downloads have been a bit of a pick & mix of the previous few years. There's some great bands, but it's all people we've seen there before, so probably going to give it a miss. I'd love to see Janes Addiction, but there's nobody else that really jumps out at me on the Sunday. Maybe Gojira, but I don't really know their stuff particularly well, so it's more of a passing interest.

Never really got the hang of Mastodon tbh. I'd have definitely had a crack at their Co - headline tour with Clutch if they'd brought it to the UK, but they've just never quite clicked with me. DL on the Sunday would definitely be more about Janes Addiction, but I dunno if I'm keen enough to pay that much!

Amen haha can't wait

but they better announce a proper bloody UK tour later in year too LOL

I'm hoping so but there becoming more of a festivals band I am with you on that though would love a tour announcement sure it will happen Bruce sounds healthy again (touch wood). We're in the FC so get early access to tickets, well worth the money to join. LOL 13 when I joined, and 45 and still there now

Maybe your last chance to see Rammstein as Til does struggle with the live shows these days, hardly surprising mind!

"as a 40-soemthing I don't think the DL line-up is all that, as ever if you took all the bands I want to see and put them on a 1-day line-up it'd be a no-brainer, but Rammstein and Sabbath don't appeal, seen the Sabs too many times and they bore the crap out of me these days. Bloodstock has a killer headline roster this year, Slayer/Anthrax/Gojira/MAstodon/Venon/Twisted Sister (and if you've never seen the latter you need to, and this si their final UK show!). Maiden are likely to do a UK arena tour later in the year"

We saw Living Colour support Anthrax at Hammy Odean in 1988, they came back to do an encore but didn't have enough material lol. They were good though...but Anthrax were brilliant.

Not going to DL this year as the line-ups have been getting a bit crap. The last 1 we went to was 3 years ago with Slipknot, Maiden and Rammstein headlining. Absolutely love Slipknot and even Serina enjoyed them...Rammstein were just amazing. And who hasn't seen Maiden? That said it's a good few days away just getting pissed and laid lol

Not worth the 200 quid. I'm a huge fan of Sabbath and Maiden but very disappointed in both for playing their own shows in the UK forcing us to have go up there.

Plus, I lost faith in that fest years ago. Last time I went was 2010. I get so bored waiting for bands I actually want to watch and the same crap seem to play every year. There are many better bands than fucking Shinedown and Billy Talent. Bloodstock is a much better festival but even that is getting a bit more commercial and mainstream.

Prefer smaller festivals, but DL is always a blast.

Good point, that's doubtless why sonisphere UK no longer happens, too few headline acts to sustain both. Some years you see the line-ups and think god not them again etc.
