I think that there are a couple of trade-offs around perceptions and accessibility. If I said I had a PhD, drove an AMG Merc and lived in a lovely house overlooking the sea / had a villa in Murcia and a red hot although firmly vanilla wife, you would all think I was mad, although I do ultimately I want to meet and play or have cam fun and play so I have to be relatively bland. Personally I was never one to lie to get to meet, I actually was too honest at times & shot myself in the foot. Yes, recently experienced the same thing, been there, read the book, seen the film and got the t-shirt.
