Lube melting toys

Our toy box had the cobwebs dusted off it yesterday and Easy noticed one of our lubes had burst.

When she went to clean the box out a lot of the rubber toys were deformed and 'melted'.

Tonight we got our wand out and even it too has melted plastic on it on the head and also the handle and at the cord area. It's still playable and sticky now (before we started, mucky pups!!)

Anyone else had this? We don't have anything battery operated either so it's not leaking batteries.

Depending on the lube type it can be able to disolve the coatings on some toys.

I probably wouldn't use anything damaged. The vagina is very absorbent, could be chemicals leaking out the plastic now?

We haven't, had to bin the toys. The want is at the base of the head so usable. Just bizarre with water based product - just think what it could do to your insides?!!

Chemical reactions work differently based on base substances used, but yeah i wouldn't want anything like that lube near my pussy if i was gonna put toys in there also.

It's not unusual for silicone based lubes to damage toys but water based ones certainly shouldn't.

Some lubes have done that to our toys also it is some type of chemical reaction. We have had different toys touching each other and had the same thing happen. Keep the lids on tight i wash the lube bottles when some is spilled. I also wrap the toys separately so they don'touch each other.

Odd water based shouldn't do anything to plastics cause its polar.

Its the non polar ones like oil or silicone that can disolve plastics

Its not going to have an effect on your body though.

Like if i had a big block of salt and poured water over it and it disolved away, you wouldnt panic that water was going to harm you :p

Never store toys naked together, always cover them individually. Some rubbers/plastics can cause chemical changes in others, and they melt. So it's probably not the lube.

Could it be that the toys you had had phthalates in them? This is a toxic chemical that is unfortunately present in many sex toys.

Might be an idea for the distributors of these products to mention that somewhere along the line (they maybe do, we've just never noticed).

so after a bit of trawling on LH's site, we came across - so to speak - the "toy storing guide". Well worth a read. We had no idea. You need to hunt about for it but its there. Go in through the "guide to sex toys" link.

Could be the oils maybe used in the lubes . Or the fact the toys are not oil resistant . Or coukd even be other things in the lubes . Could be fine at one temperature but not at another . Work boots to me have to be 100% oil resistant . But can still diform if left around oil long enough or different types of oils or oils with added ditergants .

Lube will melt them and toys that are different types can melt them. I wrap them separately and be sure the lid is on tight. If there damaged I throw them away.gives me a chance to buy new toys lol

Water based lube should be okay with anything. Never use a silicone lube with silicone toys. Oils are best saved for glass or metal toys. If you want to use silicone lube with a silicone toy, put a condom over it. Contrary to popular belief, silicone lube is condom safe.

I had two toys react with each other in the toy box once. The soft jelly one had hardened, and the harder rubber/plastic one had softened where they'd been in contact for a period of time. Short of storing them individually, I'm not sure what the answer is.

We keep the lube separate from the toys. Same will happen at times,when toys are touching some we wrap up.

We wash and keep the toys wrapped separately. Have have the same thing happen wash and dry prior to putting them away. There is a powder for the jell toys to keep them soft.

We've had this problem and we have found that the best thing is to keep lube away from all sex toys.
