Also what may be hindering you is that you cant accom and seeking daytime meets, many women may rightly or wrongly assume you are married and thus not be interested in meeting you

to be fair a Size 16 in Marilyn Monroe's day isn't the same as a size 16 today. But I agree with your point size 16 is not large at all. I think I read the average UK woman is a 16.

So are you seriously trying to tell us there are no size 16 women at all within 100 mile radius of you, as this is UK average size I find it incredibly hard to believe that size is not within a mile of you let alone a 100 miles

I guarantee its the difference between American and UK sizes. She was an American, so her size information will be different. That's what I think anyway.

Different people see different sizes in different ways. The op sees size 16+ as very large so I'm assuming that's the lower end of his scale.

Some women class themselves slim at size 12 and some bbw at size 12.

Size 16 may be the average uk size but it doesn't mean its not large.

I would say size 4-8 slim 10-14 average 16-20 large and above a size 20 very large.

But what I did learn from the size threads last year, everyone is going to have there own ideas on size and shape, whether we agree with them or not.

I have seen this quote women use all time and it does my head in about how Marilyn Monroe was a size 16. An American size 16 back in 1950's, in today's sizing she would be more of an American size 0-2 . Vintage clothing sizes in the USA and UK have changed totally since then !

Monroe's actual body dimensions were approximately -Height 5 ft. 5.5 inches tall; 35 inch bust; 22 inch waist (approximately 2-3 inches less than the average American woman in the 1950s and 12 inches less than average today); and 35 inch hips, with a bra size of 36D.

Ladies one tip when buying vintage clothes, never go by the size on the label or you may end up disappointed with that lovely outfit not fitting you today ! That will include anything from the 60's/70's/80's aswell

Marilyn Monroe was a size 4 at the most. Recently her dresses were auctioned off and they couldn't fit them onto the size 8 manniquins ( sp? )

size 12 .. sizes of clothing has changed in the 60's i was a 12 those same clothes now would barely fit a 10. we were very curvy back then at 16 i had a 34 24 35 body ..

Thanks i just googled it and she wore between size 8 - 12 coz they did dresses off boob size and other clothes were designed to be worn with girdles so were more slim fit. There was a video on the page and you can tell she's wearing a girdle coz her belly is really slim on the bottom half but is more rounded at the top.

36-24-34 You have almost the same body she did, that's her stats lol.

Well, if 16 is very large then I think I would be edging into the large camp...at a size 12 I would definitely be on the cusp. Maybe I'll have a big dinner and call it good.

Well I suddenly feel enormous. Thanks for that. I do not consider myself to be 'very large'. I'm an 18-20. I know some very large women...size 28-30. I know some men who love that. I would understand why they are hard to find.

Yeah, to be fair a lot of men don't have much concept of what dress sizes look like. Above a 22 or below a 12 I don't have much concept either, because I've never been any of them.

Trust me any man who has had a wife or long term girlfriend knows women sizes. The amount of hours men have spent waiting for you guys to get dressed or trying on things in shops will make any man learn women sizes very fast.

Usually I would go shopping with my ex because it was cheaper than just giving her the card. But I'd be damned if a size 4 in jeans in one shop , is not a zero or 2 in another shop.

Just goes to show: I'm an inch shorter and a dress size down from you but your body is firmer and more proportioned than mine. Side by side I'd look much bigger.
