Booking a hotel per the hour?

Is it me or do I recall hearing a hotel/Travelodge type of chain that would allow you to book a room for only a few hours? I think the whole idea was so that tired motorists could pull over and have a nap before continuing on their journey.

I can think of another use for one of those, but am I correct or is this just a good idea?

There was one planning to open in Newcastle a while ago but iv yet to find it! There's nothing on the web about it.

There's a few places for backpackers who may rent by the hour as truckers use them sometimes through the day if waiting for jobs

Have a look at hotels, they are the cabins that have come over from the orient. You book them by the hour.
