Hello my lovelies - and Merry Christmas!

I've been on fab nearly two years now - and though I get plenty of compliments in the real world - on planet fab I'm 'stunning/gorgeous/amazing/the best' etc etc - all obviously bollocks!

Whilst I'm confident (I know I'm not ugly) I know I'm far from stunning - and a guy telling me I'm gorgeous does nothing for me (I just think he's lying to get into my knickers) and someone intelligent and funny will appeal to me far more!

But the question is - to women and men - am I alone here?

Guys - do you feel you have to be OTT to get success on here?

And ladies - have you now come to accept and expect these outlandish compliments?

Or - like me - do you wish everyone would just get real and like you /want you for who you are (in my case fairly attractive but very imperfect and a bloody good giggle!)?

But that's the thing really - I think we fab ladies value a compliment from a fellow fem more as they come across as more genuine - if a guy goes OTT I just assume he wants to get in my knickers - don't you? Whereas I take compliments from fems at face value! My bad I guess! Xx

I think that men are doing themselves no favours by being OTT with compliments on here.

I personally wonder (ok I know what they are after) why men are so effusive about it....why go for many when one thoughtfully meant one would probably work a hell of a lot better in the long run!

I get lots of compliments on my looks, hair and style from both men and women in the real world - and tbh the compliments I receive on Fab aren't OTT in comparison. I guess as I don't show my pics publicly or display veris only those I'm definitely interested in meeting get to see them, and the response is consistently 'wow'!

I dunno...I remember you stood in that strip club getting more attention than many of the dancers.

So there will be a section of people that really mean those compliments they send, you will be the best thing since since sliced bread to some.

though yeah, I'm sure a lot of people will absolutely ham it up in an attempt to appeal to the ego and win favour that way. Bugered if I know how you'd go telling them apart though

I am bad at taking compliments anyway.. but on here I take them as just something that they said to the last dozen or so people they messaged.

When I used to be on as a single some of the compliments I'd get were bizarre and so obviously just said because they thought they had to. I'm by no means putting myself down but " the most stunning woman on fab"... I think not x

I have used what a might be taken as a ott complement but motivation was a like what I saw om not saying for a replyas these usually come up when something on that profile says im not what they are looking for...

It makes little or no difference how many glorified compliments are thrown at Sabrina .

She gets them outside of fab enough , the goth look seems to have universal appeal .

We are more interested in sharing a memorable experience rather than receiving over the top compliments .

Wow.. The most interesting thread on Fab currently

. I am not sure exactly how different people define OTT compliments. In my case, I am an enthusiastic gentleman, and if I see someone whose qualities appeal to me, I tend to be quite enthusiastic and complimentary but in a specific and precise way that makes the connection to the actual person. However, I avoid comparisons to others or "best of" claims-- which I guess would be my definition of OTT. Oops .. This got a bit long.. Sorry

I joined fab and I started getting Fab compliments.

Thing is, yes they're meaningless, but they made me feel better and more confident. So now as a result, I look after myself more, dress better and act more confidently.

And now I actually get real life compliments!!

I think half the reason Sabrina gets so many compliments - and the reason you two and I have - I hope - a great liking for each other whilst being so different - is that we're all straight down the line! Being part of a couple on here & also having a single profile.....I can tell you that the compliments given on my single profile are very OTT. I don't get compliments when out in public as I know of but I don't really pay attention to my surroundings as when I'm out & about I just walk around in my own little world doing my own little thing.

When chatting to other couples on this profile, we have a good laugh, good banter & lovely compliments which generally lead to a good meet, we also get honesty & great conversation.

However.....a few weeks ago I carried out a little experiment on my single profile - normally I delete 99% of messages from single men - for a whole week I did not answer one message that started with a compliment & I ended up accumulating almost 300 messages in one week alone and was overwhelmed by some of the contex of them....they ranged from the basic "your fit as fuck" "you're the fittest person on fab" "want to see me suck my own cock" & some other very bizarre & outrages ones! I'm far from fit as fuck & no where near the fittest on here ...SOME guys really do give fab a bad name & they wonder why they don't get any where ....I do not respond to OTT messages & I'm sure that many single girls, like me, would rather prefer a better opening & interesting message to actually stimulate our brains as the usual OTT crap certainly does not stimulate our labidos!

I treat everything I receive on here with a pinch of salt. If I had to rely on a place like fab or the club scene to bolster my self esteem then I would really have major issues. Apart from a very select group of wonderful ladies, who I am proud to know and call friends, it's all bullshit generated to get into my knickers.

I've been on fab nearly two years now - and though I get plenty of compliments in the real world - on planet fab I'm 'stunning/gorgeous/amazing/the best' etc etc - all obviously bollocks!

But the question is - to women and men - am I alone here?

Guys - do you feel you have to be OTT to get success on here?

And ladies - have you now come to accept and expect these outlandish compliments?

Or - like me - do you wish everyone would just get real and like you /want you for who you are (in my case fairly attractive but very imperfect and a bloody good giggle!)?
