"If you don't take the proper steps to ensure your meet is genuine then what do you expect?" How would you check it was their address before turning up at it?

"Similar thing happened to me a couple of years back. Is spoken to both halves on the phone, turned up at the address, rang the doorbell to find a young mother with baby at the door. Apparently I was the fourth that day. Don't get why people would enjoy being tossers like that. It makes me suspicious now, last night a couple invited me round to play; he wanted to meet me in Morrisons car park and then I follow him home to where his wife was waiting. All seemed a bit strange to me, so didn't bother. " Oops we do something similar to this sometimes But in our defence it's because we've been let down so saves giving our address out x

"If you don't take the proper steps to ensure your meet is genuine then what do you expect? How would you check it was their address before turning up at it?" I would never turn up to a strangers house. I always meet people in a public place. Then i don't get attacked in a strangers house and i most definitely don't harrass some innocent bystander whose address i've been given. It's common sense.

What if they give you the incorrect address for the second time you meet? Or if they attack you then when you're in their house? You think meeting someone once is going to make that much of a difference?

"If you don't take the proper steps to ensure your meet is genuine then what do you expect? How would you check it was their address before turning up at it?" You could get a pic of the person stading in their front door (open of course) so you know it's correct, when you turn up (or look it up on google maps, street view) so it proves to be genuine

"If you don't take the proper steps to ensure your meet is genuine then what do you expect?" Bloody hell. If Jesus himself turned up in these forums someone would berate him for getting nailed to the cross! I am so glad I'm not a single guy on this website or forum!

He definitely would have wasted his time if that was his idea, but then I am not a female and am straight.

"Just turned up for a meet with the F half of a verified couple at the address they gave me. A middle aged lady answered the door, no clue who I was on about! Have reported them (they blocked me after I sent them a message asking why they sent me to a wrong address!), and I feel a bit better. But Aaaaaaargh!!!! ...and breathe." Most dating sites give basic advice: meet in a public place first. It does not guarantee safety and genuineness but it is a whole lot better than going directly to a stranger's house. We always insist on a meeting at our local first. If they do not turn up, fine. We can have a drink and go home. If they turn up and are not to our taste for whatever reason, we can politely decline. Why put yourself in a difficult situation?

Always get a phone number and never ring bell. Instead phone when you are outside house to inform them you are just standing outside and if they can let you in. If they refuse, walk away

"If I meet at someone's house for the first time without having met them before I always get them to come to the door first rather than me knock on it. Just in case. If they refuse I leave. I don't feel any less safe without meeting in public coz either way they've met me they could kill me when I'm in there house!" Excellent plan ! We hadn't thought of that. Doh !
