Is politeness dead ! You send a message or you reply to one then boom nothing can't we just be polite and say thanks but no thanks !

My friend (f) averages over 30 messages a day. Even if 5 were of interest, would you copy and paste "no thanks" 25 times?

I am not lazy, I was brought up with proper manners but when I have replied no thanks I have received abuse back for the privilege. Thanks but I am not opening myself up to that.

Plus some people receive 100+ messages a day, do you really expect them to sit and reply to all of them?

But you're making the assumption that every message received is polite and courteous in the first place. That ain't true.

Not just on here in life I'm working with the steel workers in teesside guys are sending cvs out everyday there lucky if we get a reply back , it makes feel what's the point !

the second part of what you put I can empathise with it must be really demoralising. Sadly it's what happens now adays.

But the first part, this is a swinging site, its not affecting anyone by not getting a reply no reply is the same as no thankyou.

OP, do you call screen on your phone or answer every call?

When you get a message on your answer machine from someone who can save you £££'s on your heating bills do you call them back to let them know you're not interested?

It's the polite thing to do.

Totally agree with this, last week we had a guy mail us who clearly had not read our profile or chose to ignore what was written, we politely replied no thanks even providing reasons and for our trouble we received you must be tattooed fag drinking time wasters. So where are the basic manners with this guy?

Don't be daft, people don't read profiles and if they do, they often ignore it and message anyway. Too many abusive replies to a polite no thanks so instead of moaning about women who don't reply maybe its the manners (or lack of) of the guys who think its acceptable to hurl abuse back that put women off replying?

Do you write and post replies to all the unsolicited but carefully targeted and crafted advertising letters that drop through your letter box?

I appreciate you didn't ask for these letters, but then, ladies didn't ask for your messages...

It amounts to the same thing.

No reply=no interest.

Wittering on about the need for manners when it suits you won't change that.

We do get loads of messages but have, so far been able to answer every one. The problem with your status idea is, more often than not, that the person messaging hasn't read our profile so it can be quite a short conversation.

We basically informed him if he had read our profile he would of noticed we do not accept friend invites or travel more than the distance listed on our profile and for those reasons he wasnt for us, nothing too bad in our response methinks.

Grow up and stop whining. Why should somebody reply if they are not interested? Read the site FAQ'S, no reply IS a no thankyou.

Personally I have a real life, I'm not going to waste time saying no to the multitude of messages I get some days. The ones who are polite in their text, and have read my profile then yes I'll reply even if not interested. But most ignore my profile so why they expect a reply is beyond me. You are not entitled to anything from anyone on here.

No politeness isn't dead but we don't consider not replying to a message as impolite. Do you reply to every bit of junk mail that is posted through your letterbox ?? Thought not !

I used to reply with a 'no thanks' and then get abused. Not worth the hassle, even had one fella tell me he looked like one of the fellas I had been with so he didn't know what my problem was. I had a single female profile that received 140 messages in 19 hours before I deleted it. I have a life too!! Couples profile isn't so bad. But no reply means - not interested!!!
