Different people on the scene like different things from a clubbing experience, so its a loaded question, in terms of pure numbers, Chams in Darlaston probably see's more punters through its doors than any other venue, although of course thats in the midlands and not so much the North. A number of newer venues have opened recently in the North of the country but its probably too early to rank them as such against other older venues. The number of established (permanent) venues in the UK, last time I checked the list in the book was 59. And all of them are totally different, but can normally be broken down into one of four categories - Sauna style clubs, Swinging Nightclubs, Swinging hotels, or Purpose built venues which will generally have a little of everything. For some the social side of the scene is very important, others prefer everything to be as anonomous as possible, others want to dance, others want to dress up and equally others don't. There is a huge percentage of people on the scene who will not go to a venue on a night that allows single men to attend, and equally there are many people who want the attention or choice at least of playing with guys. Some couples prefer to split up when they attend a venue and do their own thing, others prefer to play together or not at all. The most sucessful venues will create an enviroment that caters for as many of these tastes as possible both in the decor, facilities and over the different types of nights they run for different people at different times. Any club is only as sucessful as the clientle it attracts. I would say some of the most sucessful clubs in the UK (All for different reasons and aimed at different people) are:
Liberty Elite
AdFabs
Chameleons
Xtasias
Ourplace4fun
The TownHouse
All of which will generally be packed most Saturday nights, but all clubs can have off nights.
Those that stay at the top will listen to feedback and take on board what people say and always strive to add and improve to what they have to offer. A good recent example of this would be The Attic in Derby and also Altantis in Stoke, which has recently changed hands and is going through a major revamp to make the club more upmarket and offer more to its members (Its now Altantis Evoloution) When you read a review, when the widest range odd reviews possible, but you also have to remember, as a single guy, your never going to find one venue, that is always great for single men every night because the scene just doesnt work that way.
