I'd say let him discover what he likes by experimenting with it then showing you. Also, it shouldn't be hard to get in - if it is, preparation - like butt plugs - and lots and lots of lube is needed. Last but not least - make sure it's a specialist anal toy.

I think the big trouble getting it in was it was his first time and I suspect it was a little big for him. Wasn't a anal toy though just kinda cock shaped.

He did try to pmay himself but had a little trouble trying to reach down and move it the way he was trying to get it to go. Xx

Fingers first (preferably his own to start). You can then start to get a proper feel for his particular anatomy and sensitivity of his p-spot. In some ways I'm not the best guy to comment as I respond as much to an sphincter stimulation as prostate. One toy which I would suggest for you in this case is the Aneros tempo/peridise.
