Height factor.

Has the question of someone's height affected you when looking for potential meets?

I'm not exactly the tallest guy out there, but do women still stick to the old adage saying of searching for the stereotypical 'Tall, Dark and Handsome' types? Just curious.

There are some women who've even lied about their height (Usually putting their height measurements when they have their heels on).

Why would anyone even do something like that?

I don't get this height business but I don't want to get into trouble with the dating site police. Mr W

That's fine but if guys are on here for swinging and couples for that matter we don't get the height bit because a social and sexual spark is what matters. By all means have preferences but understand what is happening here. Mr W

I'm 5ft 8 but nearer 6ft in heels!

I've had playmates from 5ft 8 - 6ft 6!

I'm a few inches taller in my heels than a few of them - but if it doesn't bother them then it doesn't bother me!

I take the heels off when we play - so it doesn't matter then!

I'm sure people like to go around wearing heels all the time, even when they're in bed now don't they?

I think it's ok to be honest about your height and be more proactive in having realistic expectations.

I don't find it much of a deal breaker if the woman is a few inches taller than me. I've been with women who were taller than me and they didn't find it to be a problematic issue now. It more boiled down to having a connection and a spark between each other that we moved past being outright shallow.

But then again, everyone has personal preferences. *Shrugs*

A wise old man once said 'You could be the world's greatest novelist, but if she's only interested in footballers, your attention is wasted on her.'

Attraction is mostly physical, people like what they like and nothing's going to change that, as I'm in the 5-5.5ft range, I've had to learn that the hard way! Haha

Just be genuine, honest and entertaining! If that's not enough then no worries, you're not for them

I never give it a second thought. Tallest woman I met here was 5'8" barefoot and we really enjoyed each other's company.

OP, some are looking for tall, dark and handsome. Blame Disney! But some love wearing heels but still want to be petite and feminine standing at 5'10. Also, some are interested in a relationship so attraction and type is vital. They may not admit openly (or more importantly, themselves) but part of them wants to find that perfect guy. So as cliché as it sounds: It's not you, it's them!

I am 5'7, my ex was 6 foot. We were together 15 years. Her friends used to take the piss out of her because before me she would always say she would never hook up anyone shorter than her let alone date them. Then she met me.

She now freely admits her attitude was ridiculous. People have a stereo type image of what they are attracted to but then find themselves attracted to people they would never have dreamt of.

Maybe as you grow older and mature you accept that attraction isn't about height or weight or any other preconception you had. You either find someone attractive physically and mentally or you don't.

"I can see it from your point of view

I thought that most feel like me in that they want someone taller than themselves; did not know that there was a blanket minimum height requirement"

It's taller women that suffer too. I had a friend who used to be here and she was taller than you barefoot. She used to hate it as meeting was a nightmare sometimes. She felt very sensitive over her height so meeting 6ft plus was set in stone. Trouble was they had already been picked up by women shorter. Many who are shorter than 5'2" and less.

So for me, I see it as an issue that affects men and women for different reasons but people have their preferences that have to be respected. But a lot of the time, we let public opinion dictate what's acceptable.

"I met someone who was a lot shorter than me, I defended his height to the taxi driver who was very rude and it took the edge off the meet for me as all i could think about was the height difference, so I will only meet taller men now"

I'm pretty sure that cab driver wasn't exactly Michelangelo's David but sadly the damage was done.

It's about liking yourself and not giving a shit what others think.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

I'm a short arse.

I do prefer taller men, but have met men about the same height, or shorter when I wear heels (I tend to wear 6 inch heels most days)

"Q. Why don't short men want to date / meet short women? Are there fewer short women than there are short men?"

I'm more than happy to date short women. I've never taken height as a huge factor in my meets.

Whether they're taller, shorter or the same height. It just doesn't matter to me.

"Same size lying down mate "
No we're not. A short guy lying on top of me is going to have his head in my boobs. Fine for him, but what if I want a snog?

And don't get me started about short guys trying to do doggy with me. My legs are so long they need a run up.

"Height has never been one of my concerns when I'm meeting guys on here.....I'm having sex with them not using them to reach the top shelf "

Plus I'm sure mutual co-operation works well when helping each other out. (Giving someone a boost by lifting them up to reach those places....which....could also turn out to be a kinky foreplay act?)

I have too much of a wild imagination running here now. hahaa

Would be nice to be presented by a girl bent over and my crotch level. Although heels help

If it has been for others they have been polite enough to knock me back for other reasons

Height is s big thing for me, I love really tall men.

I'm also good at height and have met 2 guys who said they were 6' and I called them on it. One was 5'11" (I measured him) and the other was 5'11.5" and was shocked I could tell.

However, I have met guys of other heights because in the end, personality matters most

I can agree with this

Having short legs definately throws up challenges with 'doggy'

My attempts usually end up looking like a game of twister

On the other hand I have got to shag some lovely knees

This is soooo true

I've also, sadly, found that shorter guys are way more obnoxious. They are the ones who often send hate messages when you say no thanks. Never had that from a tall guy.

i do think a certain element of short men have a bit of a complex..my ex was very tall and said he'd never been in an argument or fight that wasn't started by some short guy trying to get a rise out of him!

On the other hand, there are those amongst us that are not bothered in the slightest by it.

My only niggle being that I wish my legs were longer. Not to be taller, but to save me having to get everything taken up

I've carried a full blown relationship with someone 4 inches taller than me in trainers and I'm not short.

I've also dated a girl who was 4 foot 8 with a Glaswegian accent... (god I miss the tiny pvc dresses she used to wear)

No point to the post... just reminiscing lol

I'm 6'2, I've dated a girl who was 5'0 and I've dated a girl at 6' so height really isn't a factor for me although I don't know how I'd feel about someone taller than me...any 6'3+ women out there want to help me test a boundary?

"Has the question of someone's height affected you when looking for potential meets?

I'm not exactly the tallest guy out there, but do women still stick to the old adage saying of searching for the stereotypical 'Tall, Dark and Handsome' types? Just curious.

There are some women who've even lied about their height (Usually putting their height measurements when they have their heels on).

Why would anyone even do something like that?

Be a use they want a guy to be taller than them when they're out wearing their heels. Out where dating? Mr W "

Clubs?
