Polite rejection!

.

I (male half of the couple) know I am not the best looker but there must be a politer way of rejecting us than saying "sorry, wife won't take one for the team"

Been sending messages back and forth with a couple only to get that response when we sent a face pic, I thought it was a little harsh!

It is harsh and unnecessary.

Yes that's rude, but to be honest when people are rude it doesn't upset me, it just makes me happy that I didn't share my wife with them. Someone that feels a need to put others down like that probably has some deep emotional problems and I unlikely to be a particularly nice person to spend a great deal of time with.

In summary, think of it as dodging a bullet rather than being rejected.

No need for that - keep honest opinions for myself & just say - sorry, you're not for me - simples

It's not really bothered me as I said I have never been under any illusion the wife is a good few points up the scale than me, just thought it was very rude and as been said, a bullet dodged.

Jeezo... what is the world coming to?

That's horribly rude and totally unnecessary.

Sometimes I wonder where people missed out on learning some manners.

Block, delete and know that most of us have manners and tact.

To be honest I don't think there is a polite way to say no thanks.

It's a case of we think we are being polite by saying 'no thanks but have lots of fun'. The amount of abuse that sometimes comes back!!!

We never allow chat to get so far and then politely decline. We always read every profile before chatting. But for us it does seem the people we have to say this to haven't bothered to read our profile anyway.

It's a catch 22 situation. It's wrong to say 'no thanks' it's wrong if you don't. And if you don't you are seen as 'ignorant'.

Everyone's buggared!!!! Lol

Makes me wonder if they'd say that to someone in person! No need whatsoever

I disagree. I think there's easily a way to be honest yet not be unkind. There's absolutely nothing wrong in not being attracted to someone. You just say 'I'm sorry, I'm not attracted to you in that way' and if they are upset by that then they need to reevaluate what they're doing here.

There's zero need to be vulgar or abusive and if the person cannot take rejection like an adult without responding in an abusive manner then report them to Admin.

If you're rude in return then you've lowered yourself and you shouldn't.

That's harsh. In that sort of situation we would usually "say we both have to agree a meet and unfortunately this isn't the case". We don't see any point in making someone feel shit. Had one couple try to get us to say which way round it was, why would you do that to yourself?

We prefer to make our decision after a social meet over a couple of drinks. You can't tell much about a potential FB from just a photo.

There are plenty of ways to turn someone down without being obnoxious or rude.

The person who replied to the OP was both.

Have had the 'not for us' message and sent it A few times

Also have met and played with a couple who later wrote and said we didn't do it for them and wouldn't see us again (TBH wasn't bothered) ...

Had socials where we have been met cpl who I had said in advance to that unlikely to play as didn't fit criteria.... Chatted to them at a club and they got uppity after...

No easy way but we just say no ta but happy fabbing

Block if they come back

There is never an excuse for rudeness, my OH had a lady be rude to him today, he was being nice and she was blatantly rude. Manners cost nothing and there are polite ways to say no!

I agree. My comment was to explain that not everyone who is politely turned down reacts politely in return.
