Yes. We have stopped engaging with both a couple and a single female as we just couldn't seem to get a conversation flowing. Our thoughts are if we can't converse on fab, will real life conversation be difficult? Our playtimes are limited so we don't take the risk.

To me they do. They help with knowing what they're after / into and whether you can connect with them before a face to face catch up

If the conversation doesn't flow, or my pedantry over spelling and grammar kicks in; then I'm much less inclined to want to spend time in their company.

For many, those that aren't being proactive, a message is a window into the sender. The profile may be a bigger one, but it may be the received message that interests you enough to look st a profile.

Absolutely. I would like to know that they can spell and hold a decent conversation. One liners, single words and text speak are such a turn off.
