A scam on here

actually just thought of something I should post, mainly for the guys.

I was chatting to a lady on here for days. Eventually swapped KIK id's and chatted, then she gave me her number.

Called her a few times, general chat about meeting etc. She seemed lovely.

Mobile number started 0706....got suspicious during a chat and checked it out. Scam premium rate number.

Just wanted to warn people as this was something that took days to set up, not the usual hi, call me approach.

Was going to as soon as I discovered it was a cam, but they'd already left. I assume they gathered a few people to chat to on KIK and then removed the profile.

Single men will be particularly vulnerable, possibly jumping at the chance of a meeting.

If you send all the details you can remember including the kik ID to Admin from the CONTACT button they can do their thing.

Just googled this number.

Apparently someone was scammed£30+ a minute

Not sure if that's true, but it's definitely a well known scammers number judging by the amount of feedback on it.

There's a scam where you get a card through the door saying you have a parcel and you have to call a number to arrange a new delivery. High rate number charges ridiculous amounts of money.

I think the point is that premium rate numbers are often blocked by default to protect the user. the fact anyone could call the number was the point made....a child could dial it not knowing premium rate numbers exist, and therefore you get the money back.

In this case it wasn't a child it was an adult ripping off the phone company by saying it was a child.

If it really was a child doing it then surely the adult who owns the phone should be more aware of what is going on with it, I don't see why you should get a refund for it and blame the phone company.

I'd say it is also unfair that someone can set up a premium rate service, give that number out and not be obliged to tell someone calling it that they are paying a premium price to call that number. That is the real problem. People can be ripped off, when they should be fully aware of all costs before they decide to dial, or not.

Ok posts removed.

You can't blame people for falling for a scam, it just means they are more trusting than others...plus it has happened on other sites we are on so it does happen.

Contrary to the posts removed, Admin do deal with these things as soon as they are reported so get reporting if you see any.

If the person has left, any information you can remember, KIK ID's etc send them to Admin through the CONTACT button.

Don't get sucked in people, it ends up costing a fortune, google any number you are given before calling

"actually just thought of something I should post, mainly for the guys.

That's interesting, I just spotted a profileWhere lady managed to get 7 veris in the 21 hours since opening the account.

Either very impressive or a bit suspicious ? They all seemed to be done via cam? "

So she went in the chat room on cam and asked for a cam veri?

With 100+ people in a room 7 isn't that many pok

"An expensive lesson for you I'm sure! I would have though a mobile phone number that looked weird should ring alarm bells immediately, no matter how much the owner might say "yeah is for this reason..."

The point is it didnt look weird..even the IT guys said that..and i worked for a huge company...in fact the company picked up the bill once they called the number

As has been said before, valid mobile numbers issued in the UK are never 070 those are follow me numbers and Of gem issued an alert about these numbers years ago.... That kind of number immediately rings alarm bells for me and those that read this thread... Should for you!

What about those of us who didn't get the memo? "

You just did
