Shaving and ingrowing hair probs. Advice needed

Morning you lovely forumites.

Does anyone have any top tips on either preventing ingrowing lady garden hairs, or how to treat them?

Just come back from swinging hols, and possibly due to the amount of shaving I've had to do to keep smooth, my mound now resembles an acne riddled teenager!

I really don't want to have waxing so sticking with shaving.

I'm using conditioner to shave and moisturising well afterwards.

But it's really not attractive trying to dig for hairs with regrowth and popping the white heads!!

I always exfoliate daily with one of those double sided sponges, use the rough side dry.

Exfoliate well and shave in the direction of the hair growth.

I used to love squeezing the ingrown hairs out! Think the only way to really stop them is to not shave it everyday. The hair needs a few days to grow through the layer of skin otherwise you'll keep getting the razor bumps.

Or use hair removal cream. Boots own brand intimate hair removal cream is the most sensitive stuff there is.

Buy a lotion called "Tendskin" cheapest on amazonian lol pretty expensive but the best out there from what i have tried

Look into a "clean cut razor". It's an intimate area shaver - designed for down there. They are battery operated and can be used every day. A little bit pricey - about £60. I swear by mine, I have sensitive skin, so can't use a normal razor, this one doesn't cause any rashes, no nicks or ingrown hairs. I have had mine for about 5 years and wouldn't be without it. x

I wax but have recently started with some serious ingrowing hairs, leaving quite deep marks. My waxer has said there are some treatments; pfb (chemical based) and aloeclear (natural). I have not tried either, but both are used to sanitise the hair follicle a few days post waxing. I have opted for a firm body brush to exfoliate and a aloe vera moisturiser. Seems to be working well.

Definitely exfoliate daily then rub the area with a chlorhexidine bp in an ethanol solution this will help prevent the spots and reduce them. I think magic power might be the best way for you to go.

Use lots of almond or coconut oil to lubricate the shave. Always works for me.

I've looked at the shaver thingy but don't think it's for me.

The powder sounds good though. And the antiseptic stuff. I guess I'm looking this way due to bacteria in the hair follicles.

So makes sense using an antibacterial product.

That is why medical advice is to avoid shaving the pubic area. It is not hygenic and can lead to STI infections

I would go.for a waxing after letting your hair grow a bit the seiko.shaver is really good. Highly recommended them. Also I bit of sunbathing el natural helps. Good luck

I personally would not use moisturiser because if you apply it incorrectly then the cream gets caught in the hair follicles and this results in red spots which then can become angry and inflamed.

If you insist on using it then apply it by a downward stroke motion rather than rubbing it in, in all directions.
