Stopped drinking

I have totally stopped drinking 4months ago, I feel so much healthier and better in myself. What is worrying me is that when me and Mike meet anyone I normally need a few drinks for Dutch courage! We haven't had time for a meet for a while and I really want to go back to the After8 but worried in case I'm not relaxed enough. Does this even make sense or am I making issues and problems for myself? Help.

Of course not, just make sure you cut down the amount you drink for Dutch courage as, as you've not d*unk for a while, it's likely to have a much bigger effect on you.

I haven't d*unk for years and a glass of wine will make me tipsy.

I don't drink at all anymore and don't want to. Just feeling a little more anxious about arranging a meet or going to the club. X

Oh right.

Well that's up to you. You can only try it and see.

I'll still have maybe half a glass once a year or so (I stopped drinking because I just didn't fancy it anymore rather than just for health reasons), but that small amount doesn't make me feel shitty or anything. x

I quit drinking almost entirely 18yrs ago, one of the best decisions I ever made. If I do have a drink now I find that one is plenty.

Well done you and keep it up...

Thanks. It was becoming a bit of an issue. I'm kind of looking forward to having fun and remembering everything, but I am a little nervous as well. Now I've written it down, it seems a silly thing to have posted, oh well. Going to have to arrange something and see how I get on. X

It's not silly at all! It's normal, when you're used to going into these situations with a drink or two to be more nervous than usual.

So long as you've got someone to go with, go early and settle down, so you can get comfortable and a proper feel for everything before it gets busy! And, just take everything at your own pace.

Best of luck xx
