I have never had one. If I did receive one my first reaction would be that they're jealous. Don't believe what people say to you. It's better to make your own assumptions and listen to your gut.

Strange or anti-social behaviour is no more appropriate here than anywhere else.

Were they saying they wanted to keep him to themselves or saying the guy in question was bad news?

Suppose it depends on many factors,is the person warning you off a wrong un or are they trying to cock block.

Also one persons version of a wrong un may be somebody elses idea of a bad boy.

Best to make your own mind up,we are all different.

No it's not normal.

Happened to me once with a girl claiming the guy arranging to meet me was 'her man'. His fault for mentioning me. Hers for getting jealous.

The weren't together. He just preferred me.

She's blocked and he's now my regular fella

I'm sure you apply caution and common sense when it comes to meeting guys anyway. I am always slightly cynical when it comes to receiving messages warning me off people. I prefer to come to my own conclusions.

I've never been warned off but I've heard that others have. Not uncommon I would say. I would tell the man about it and see what he says. I'd be inclined to steer clear though.

Both women and men can have bad experiences here. I know that even I have managed to upset someone just because I was a little blunt and thought I was being clever (and more than a little tipsy when typing - never a good idea!)

It is easy to get the wrong impression from someone's message because unlike 'proper' conversation you can't see their facial expression or judge the jovial tone they think they are writing in.

Still, if someone warns you off, it is probably worth heeding the warning, or at least proceeding with extreme caution.
