We are all grown up and should be old enough and wise enough to make sensible decisions. I for one will always go protected but it's not for me to judge if someone decides to go without.

We know the risks.....

Didn't take long for the ridiculous Russian roulette analogy to pop up again.

Russian roulette.....pull the trigger......1 in 6 chance of certain and instant death.

Does bare back sex carry those odds. I very much doubt it.

OP if you want to, weigh up the risks and if you deem them acceptable to you, go for it.

If not, bag that bad boy up before you stir the pot.

Bare back has always been ok there would be a very small population without it. As other people have doubtless said it's a choice that's down to each individual and as long as you protect yourself there is no need to concern yourself with what other people do.

The usual over dramatic frenzied responses to a bareback thread, quite funny really

Most of the fervent, religious, pious responders to bareback threads also play bareback themselves, they just don't mention it.

Bareback is fine so long as you're upfront about it and agreed in advance and you choose your partners with care.

Also fine is slapping a condom on, sticking it inside some willing receptacle and banging for a bit until everyone gets bored and goes home.

Play how you like with people who like to play your way. We play bareback only and we haven't caught the black death, our genitals are still intact and there isn't a giant red 'X' on our door.

If what is said about barebackers and STIs is true then through natural selection they will all die out because of the plethora of STI diseases they contract. So all you Condomers, fear not, it will soon be a disease free world.

Mind you, many of the non-sexual diseases, like colds, flu, c dificile, CJD, MRSA, turbuculosis, etc. we just take as a part of life, and take little precautions against, are significantly more damaging than STIs. It seems illogical to panic over chlamydia and ignore Flu which kills on average 8,000 per year in the UK.

Still, personal preference I guess.

Interesting thread, so many different opinions.

I guess these days there are other methods of reducing STI risk and pregnancy risk (e.g. regular testing, PrEP, the pill), so maybe that's why more people are willing to try bareback. Some people seem to only bareback and avoid catching anything, and either they're extremely lucky or do take some care with choice of partner and other preventative measures. Of course, it's possible to try it only once and catch HIV. Condoms, as I see it, are another preventative measure, and are very effective (but not 100%) against pregnancy and STIs. So you use the combination of precautions that best reflects your attitude to the risk.

One could also state (accurately) that if you adopt the swinging lifestyle you're doing your bit to spread diseases. If you marry as a virgin to a virgin and stay monogamous your entire life you won't catch an STD. Unless you do this then you are not in any position to cast any stone let alone the first.

My preference is not to bareback but I am also fully aware that even with condoms I am still at risk of contracting something... Yes... They aren't the ultimate it safe sex. They aren't a free pass to infection free life!!

I make that choice every time I sleep with someone. New or not. With multiple partners I increase the probability of that risk. But as an adult that is my choice and I will deal with any consequences of MY decisions. I won't blame another part of society who chose to play by different decisions.

If I have flu,a cold, cold sore etc I try to avoid giving it to someone else. If someone else has something communicable I try to avoid catching it. Using a condom is my way of trying to avoid catching something. I had the flu jab because I was taking medication that lowered my immune system. Every little helps.

The above post shows how naive some people are.

You would think in this day and age people would know the truth.

"If you play bareback you are doing your bit the spread these diseases... "

FALSE, there is no reason why people playing bareback automatically spread “these diseases”.

Yes there is a chance that they could but if both are STI free before the meet they will not spread any STIs by playing bareback.

"One could also state (accurately) that if you adopt the swinging lifestyle you're doing your bit to spread diseases. "

Again this is totally false there is no reason why swingers cannot go through life STI free whether they use a condom or play bareback, you are simply scaremongering.

"If you marry as a virgin to a virgin and stay monogamous your entire life you won't catch an STD. Unless you do this then you are not in any position to cast any stone let alone the first. "

This is perhaps the most frightening bit of the whole inaccurate post. A person may carry a STI even though they have never had sex.

Some babies are born with HIV; some babies are born with Syphilis, Gonorrhea or even Chlamydia etc. they can pass these diseases on to there monogamous husband or wife thereby falsifying your statement

A person may play bareback all their adult life and never catch a STI or they may play just once bareback and catch a STI.

In a similar manner a person may use a condom every time they play and catch a STI or they may use a condom every time they play and never catch a STI.

If the chance is 1 in 100 that does not mean that a person can shag 99 others and on shagging the 100th they will catch something it means every time they shag someone they have a one percent chance of catching something, the odds don’t change with every shag

Simply: this!

As I say on these types of threads, the fact we're on this site means we're promiscuous, sleeping with strangers taking risks.

Yet some, somehow manage to find a moral high ground to ride their high horse up and look down on other promiscuous people who take more risks than them!

"My preference is not to bareback but I am also fully aware that even with condoms I am still at risk of contracting something...

Simply: this!

As I say on these types of threads, the fact we're on this site means we're promiscuous, sleeping with strangers taking risks.

Yet some, somehow manage to find a moral high ground to ride their high horse up and look down on other promiscuous people who take more risks than them!

" the reason I ask is I notice not only on this site but others as well a lot of it goes on especially with man on man. just thought you had to be careful these days or am I wrong and it is now acceptable between all adults "

In a relationship is fine, but swinging fuck know. I value my life

"If what is said about barebackers and STIs is true then through natural selection they will all die out because of the plethora of STI diseases they contract.

If I have flu,a cold, cold sore etc I try to avoid giving it to someone else. If someone else has something communicable I try to avoid catching it. Using a condom is my way of trying to avoid catching something. I had the flu jab because I was taking medication that lowered my immune system. Every little helps. "

Understood but the care taken with avoiding non-STIs is far less than STIs. For instance, do you wear latex gloves all the time and a mask in public? Sterilize anything you are going to touch?
