Why is it when people ask for advice etc, you send them a nice message with lots of info, yet they can't be arsed to reply with a simple thank you. Manners cost nothing

If they ask for advice on the forums then i'd say reply there.

I know there's a message user thing in the forum posts but some people do not want to have conversations with people they don't find attractive. It messes up the way this site uses filters.

I agree there's a difference with this scenario than the usual 'I wrote a nice message looking for a meet but got no reply' scenario.

In this case if you were being helpful and went out of your way to provide them specific advice to a specific question they had then I agree, it's poor form to not even acknowledge your time and effort.

Ignore it OP, and satisfy yourself with the knowledge that you're the better person!

I can see where your coming from, but why ask people to message with advice and tips. I personally think it's extremely ignorant, rude and shows a lack of respect etc. Perhaps this is now why most people won't stop and help a stranger. A simple thank you goes a long way.

Depends on the context and medium in which it was asked.

What you may have seen as a friendly message with advice & tips may have come across as patronising & condescending to the person you sent it to.

Q; Can anyone recommend a nice club with a hotel attached in a certain area.

Ans; Hi there Club xyz is a really nice place, you can book a room there or there are loads of nearby hotels.

Again a simple thank you goes a long way.

If the original request was on a forum then I agree, personal messages are not really appropriate and replies should be sent in the forum unless the op ask for a PM. However if its a generic status update asking for advice then they should have the decency to either state they can't answer all messages or at least acknowledge the effort someone has gone to to help them find information.

Because they get millions of emails, if they was replying to all they would be home all day lol.

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

If they specifically requested pm's, then yes, some sort of acknowledgment would be in order I would have thought

If they asked then yeah that's a bit rude.

Maybe they got loads of messages and couldn't reply to them all?
