big built men

We are probably all aware that there is a BBW scene for large, curvy ladied. There is no equivalent for BHM (big guys).

So my question is, are there sufficient ladies who enjoy the larger man to start a club night?

True but as a fatty, it doesn't bother me that much. People like me or they don't, we come as a package and everyone who wants, knows what's involved.

Depends what you mean by big, big overweight or big built muscular. Not many big built muscular women so BBW would normally mean fuller figured ladies but big built guy could mean either.

There is a scene, it's slowly filtering through from the gay scene. Usually referred to as Bears or Daddies. I have a real weakness for guys who are big built, hairy, and primarily into men.

Women have pretty much accepted men 'as they are' over the years. Fat, balding, old, etc. Whereas women have always had it shoved in their face that there is a standard of beauty to maintain (and many have profited off this). That's the societal difference i feel.

But fat people, men and women, do tend to be treated like outcasts, until someone fetishised BBW. Not sure it's a good thing really, to fetishize people so they're attractive.

I'd suggest the double standard is more in the support big women get from other women vs the support women give big men.

I am thinking of "overweight" I suppose, though am tempted to ask......over who's weight?

the gay/bear scene has existed for quite some time but I've seen nothing akin to the BBW scene for men. A friend tried to start up a group some years ago and got nowhere.

That's true, this would explain why you get loads of fat, balding, old guys playing the lead roles in big budget movies, on the cover of magazines, winning the X Factor, pinned up on teenage girls walls etc...

Seriously ladies, such a big deal has been made of the media promoting 'unrealistic depictions of beauty' for women, the fact that males are largely subject to the same goes completely overlooked.

I meant society in general, i've seen many fat guys, older guys as well as not that appealing guys walking around in shorts and no top with no pressure to cover up and no abuse hurled at them. If a fat woman did that she'd be bitched about, until society changed and now it's likely she'd get some support. I'm not a man though, this is what i've observed in real life and how i based my opinion.

Not into really large men or really thin men.

No in the hot weather, especially at night time I see plenty of large girls walking about wearing tight miniskirts up to their hips, shorts and hot pants and strutting around in their high hells - social acceptance of revealing skin is far from a male thing.

Most of the bitching about women comes from women. That's based on my experience. Men don't seem too bothered what other males look like? Media fed insecurities? I'm not sure.

I think i'm older than you? But no fat women ever showed themselves off when i was growing up, not even sure if there were any obese people those days coz i don't remember seeing any, well one girl out of my whole year at secondary is all i remember now i think about it, but fat people were about and they never showed it off.

Now i think about it more it does tend to be that fat guys were used in comedy mainly. Might be where we got the idea that fat people are jolly from?

Well, it's kind of weird to hear from a guy that the media pushes for an acceptable male standard, can't really argue with your opinion so will let you have that. Nobody cared when i was growing up though, so it's strange to hear this.

I think it's a natural male thing to be fairly external in your thinking, and that's fine, it doesn't mean we don't have our own insecurities though.

I'm not suggesting that a man should be 'encouraged' to be more open, as often he may choose to keep these feelings inside him because he feels it would be a sign of weakness to let them out, if such is the case, then even a simple acknowledgement and respect for his attempts to overcome these problems internally may be all he needs to succeed.

Yeah i noticed this. Might be because we tend to become more close with other women though so feel more at ease to talk how we want with them? My cousin was my best mate growing up but she was bitchy at times, idk why she even noticed half the stuff she noticed to bitch about.

Well look at guys like John Candy and Chris Farley, they made careers out of playing fat, loveable oafs, but apparently both men suffered from severe depression, largely resulting from their weight, and both died young - coincidence?

Co-incidence i reckon. Loads of people become depressed and off themselves, or try to.

But yeah they are mainly used as something to poke fun at, which is sad.

I think the issue is mostly there's lots of men who will happily pretend they fancy a woman (see how many get messages saying their gorgeous even if they have no pics) to get a dhag and thing fat women are an easy lay

Women don't tend to have the same level of desperation so there isn't the same "scene" of women lying to try and get a shag

I suspect in many cases people turn to food due to feeling low or depressed.....and it becomes a vicious cycle. I know a lot of fat people who were just as depressed after losing weight - to their great surprise.

That's a fair point, but having chatted to and known many men over the years, they just seem more interested in other things. Body image seems to come way down the list. Again, this is just based on personal experience."

I'm bothered about what other men look like stacked up next to me and how I look. Body image is quite high on my list. The issue is its lower down the list than cake

"I suspect in many cases people turn to food due to feeling low or depressed.....and it becomes a vicious cycle. I know a lot of fat people who were just as depressed after losing weight - to their great surprise. "

Excercise works way better than food to fight depression.

But anti depressants and anti psychotics ( often used off label for anxiety ) tend to cause weight gain through various mechanisms

I'm 34" inside leg, 34" waist, 44" chest. I was described by one guy as a bear and a daddy. Not sure if I fit the description, I'm happy to be described as such, but in my head a bear and a daddy had more if a paunch than me!

And not everybody that's overweight suffers from depression. Some of the most confident women I've met would be considered as bbw's ( if you're into labels) and some of the most fragile women would be considered athletic. It's about how people perceive themselves which matters more than what others say.

Going by measurements, and especially BMI, most rugby players, competitive rowers and boxers wwould be classed as fat. But they are often very fit and certainly active.

So my question is, are there sufficient ladies who enjoy the larger man to start a club night? "

We've discussed this privately and there are sites for larger men.

"Interesting how so few people ever want to discuss the rather blatant double standards on this issue eh?

why is it double standards?

so because a lot of guys like big women that means woman have to like big guys?

you can't help what your attracted to

That so little time and attention is given to promoting and empowering the larger male.

Then do it. I'm sure you could start a few threads etc and make a contribution to the cause.

Why when this one is already running?

Women have pretty much accepted men 'as they are' over the years. Fat, balding, old, etc. Whereas women have always had it shoved in their face that there is a standard of beauty to maintain (and many have profited off this). That's the societal difference i feel.

But fat people, men and women, do tend to be treated like outcasts, until someone fetishised BBW. Not sure it's a good thing really, to fetishize people so they're attractive."

The reason I lost weight is because of the abuse my kids used to get about me

I used to be a size 24 and the kids at school would bully mine calling me all kinds of names to them

It was that that made me realise I had to do something

Sad thing was my kids never told me I found out from somebody else and when I asked why they didnt tell me they said because they didn't want to hurt my feelings

It upset me to know my kids where getting bullied because of the way I looked and that they kept it to themself to save my feelings when it was my fault they were bullied in the first place
