Tesco have ostrich steak. It is really yummy with traditional steak trimmings. It's a little weird in texture but very tasty.

I asked a barman once for two crocodile pints of Guinness.

He asked me what they were.

Told him I just wanted two regular pints of Guinness but to make them snappy.

I was put off croc years ago helping my old man clean and prepare a couple of tails. They had been kept on a boat in the hold with fish and stank to high heaven of the fish. I couldn't get the smell off my hands for days. I don't think I've eaten croc since.

Friend of mine ate puppy in Hong Kong. They just picked this animal up out of a cage and butchered it loudly out the back and, a short while later, brought him dinner.

I was like, 'HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU EAT THAT??"

I lived on Hong Kong for 3 years and while I totally agree it's barbaric it's only barbaric to me because it's not in our custom to eat dog. It's the norm over there or was while I lived there along with the little lady sitting with her cage of jumping frogs on one side and a bucket for the head and one for legs with the chopping board in middle. And the woman with the birds in cages , the snakes in cages and the fish in tanks.

All completely normal when I was there.

It's the way they kill them. That's barbaric. People's pets are kidnapped over there and sold for their meat. It's discusting. The people who do that need the same treatment. I'll happily accept that job. They should leave dogs alone

"its quite pathetic though peoples opinions on eating animals other than standard beef/chicken etc..

particularly as the meats are essentially higher in nutrition ,lower in fat..

but heyho...I'd probably buy saltnpepper fried crickets.. well you should know. The way they kill those poor dogs is horric. They kidnapp people's pets too to sell and murder. Beef and chickens are livestock raised and bred to be eaten!! So wind your neck in.

No need to be rude , understand it's something you don't agree with but still , no need to be rude. ooh miss so calling someone pathetic is OK to you then???? Hmm. Says alot

She never called anyone pathetic, just because you don't agree with doesn't mean you can be rude to people lol yawn. I didn't say the lady from Essex called me pathetic so read properly before throwing comments. Thank you.

Oh la di da, at the end of the day, you were being rude to the point of being abusive so I think its you that needs to "wind yer neck in" yawn! What I said is nothing compared to being called pathetic little lady."

I think u should wind ur neck in , I wasnt talking about eating domesticated animals such as pets..I was meaning its quite pathetic people go YUCK at eating other kinds of animals...even the likes of insects.

I dont agree with cruelty, or mistreatment at all..

so next time you read a post use that pre-university piece of melon in your head and read the post properly instead of spouting your misguided paranoia!

Thanks

That reminds me, we tried the crocodile and kangaroo burgers on Sunday after someone on here recommended them. Sorry: I've forgotten who it was but if you remember, and you're reading this, thanks - they were great

Lets face the truth for 1 minute if you were starving and there was nothing left to eat probably would eat anything. We've forced our way to the top of the food chain eating all manner of different animals. Certain animals we've associated with being pets so suddenly they're off the menu? No people still eat rabbit, only thing different between that bunny in the hutch in the back garden and the one running wild is it's lifestyle. Saying that couldn't eat an animal that had been killed in a barbaric manner.

I quite agree if you eat animals you eat animals I don't see what it matters what animal it is, seems a little hypocritical to me

Was like the uproar over the horse meat last year, so its OK to kill a cow but not a horse? Why what did the cow ever do to you?

And people justify their out rage by saying its not the fact it's a horse we just have the rights to know what we are eating

Bollocks if they put pairs in an apple pie would that have made headline new? I dohbt it

If you eat animals you eat animals how can you say its OK to kill one type but not another that I don't get

That is barbaric glad I do not eat meat!!!"

See I'm a vergaterian too and maybe it's because I don't eat animals at all that I just don't get this mentality

People eat lamb all the time and that's fine, had they pulled a lamb out a cage and made dinner with it noone would bat an eye lid but because its a puppy its

I just don't get it

If its OK to kill animals for food how do you then decide which animals its OK to kill and which its not?????

In my eyes you either agree that killing animals for food is fine or you don't

But like I said maybe it's because I wouldn't eat any animal I just don't understand how meat eaters can be cool with certain animals being slaughtered but outraged at others

Giant Panda is quite nice. It tastes a bit like seal but a similar texture to tiger.

"Just tried them.......well good with fried onions on sesame buns with a bit of salad.

Who else likes to try something a bit "different"?"

No, I'm really boring and unadventurous when it comes to food. I rarely try anything new.

I eat (not literally!) with my eyes and will decide just by looking if I'm going to like it. Drives Mr B bonkers!

Simple the one's that taste nice

Don't think we could ever eat cat even if someone said was the nicest tasting meat on earth but doesn't mean we'd stop those who did. Bet there's no other animal on this planet that thinks 'Oh no I can't eat it looks so cute' or because it's against their religion.

Horse was always on the menu here until the Royal edict dictating that they were to be made available to anyone serving His Majesty in time of war.....
