Any ideas for options for late forties couple wanting an alternative to pay parties?

Hi,

As a late 40s couple, we have been to clubs a lot, but we are trying to find alternatives.

We like the bustle and activity of a large organised pay party, but genuine smaller gatherings seem a bit thin on the ground.

Are there any established house parties out there where a couple actually organise a regular venue?

To be frank, some of the adverts look like wishful thinking rather than a real definite organised party.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Organise a small gathering of your own at a local venue or your own home

disappointed to add that although we get "party party" invites and couple to couple invites we have not yet had a return invite to a small group party and they are, in our eyes, the most friendly, sensual and fun.

build up a nice group of friends you have met and then sort a party out between you

you can always choose to invite a few extras but at least you know there is a base of people you really get on well with

small group house parties are our favourite. We've had some great times at 4-5 couple meets.

We are looking forward to our lads leaving home so we can organise our own

Travelling

We love hosting parties, and never charge.... we are sad to admit we contacted the police before we started holding parties, and the gist was, if it's free, it is perfectly legal, and as long as we dont cause offence ( ie do our shagging in the middle of the street ) the police coulnd't give two hoots. However, we were strongly advised, if we charged people to enter our home for a swinging party, we would be breaking several laws.

To me, this would be a no brainer - organise your own, that way you can dictate who attends and so on, good luck, Z

Word of mouth is always best rather than adds. We are lucky as there seems to be a lot of good party's up north but if you don't have them there then there is an opening to organise one your self as others have said. You can then make sure its like minded people attending.

This is very true and very wise, there are things to think about with private parties.

For a start a private party has no fees, no entry costs, no contributions to wear and tear, no chip-in for the food or drink, the law is not stupid, the taxman can see a £ from miles away, if you charge anything you enter into a whole new world, Health and Safety is a nightmare, you have to have your plumbing checked and check it every day for bacteria and correct hot and cold temperatures (no not that plumbing I mean showers and taps), the kitchen has to be up to standard (2 seperate sinks, stainless steel tops etc) you need public liability insurance, fire check by the local fire officer and a whole host of other nightmares. You can get away with it for a long time but it only takes one person to fall on the stairs and sue you (had an accident at work or play)

You will probably be breaking planning laws if you charge for parties.

Dev has it right, organise your parties for the love of it not for profit, no Health and Safety laws, no council intervention, Police only interested in excessive noise or public indeceny outside the home, no planning permission required.
