Just recieved a friend request from a new couple, i messaged them to say that we dont add people unless we have messaged or chatted, i sent this as some friendly advice,

They messaged me back saying they couldnt understand why this would upset me so much as they were just trying to break the ice and stated that it was unbelievable.

Well i clicked to message back and they have blocked me, well i thought blocked me from what? a 1 line profile and a shadow.

We won't/don't accept friends requests until after we've met. We happily swap facial pictures but we've had a couple of times where people have got the hump because we won't just accept an invite from out of the blue. We've found this works for us and will stick with it however many people we have to upset along the way.

we been blocked by some one we never met or even looked at their profile and we cant understand why. the way we look at it these things happen mabey they didnt like the fact for a while we didnt want to know single men up till the other day who knows. does it bother us not a bit. dont let it bother you they have the problem not yourself so take no notice what asses do

Not really,some use it to stop messaging the same person that has said no at a later date and ive seen profiles that ask people to block them if they're not interested,so its not always about a power kick at all

we dont accept friends invites unless we have swapped some messages first. I for one think its incredibly rude! I know we have pics on our profile, but our face pics are on our private pics (as is the case with most peeps I think)and I dont want random strangers seeing who we are. To me its as rude as walking up to a stranger and saying "show us your tits!!" I says that we dont acept friends invites on our profile, so a freinds invite off someone we dont know tells me two things, they are rude, and they havnt read the profile. We're not going to want to play with them, so we just delete it, we only block if they get stroppy!

Don’t really care if people block us, doesn’t make them assholes either, it just means they’re using a facility put in place by the site the way they choose, there are many reasons why people may block you, they could even be neighbours or relatives or your children mat attend the same school and recognised you by your pictures, but at the end of the day why worry about people that you’re never going to meet blocking you.

if people didnt get so unnecessarily uptite about getting a message from someone who may have previously mailed them , we wouldnt need to block for that either . people do change their profile pics and pic locations so it should be understandable that if you are attracted to the look of them before, you may well be again . especially as most profiles dont display faces . how up their own asses are some people on here? hence power kick for sure.

well you can stick with your opinion of people up their own arses and ill go with people having a choice about using an option the site has provided for them to use,along with people using it for no other reason than to stop themsleves from re-messaging the same person time and time again

Personally I have no problems if someone blocks me,I don't think they're up their arses or on a power trip its up to them how they use the site

Why should someone I don't want to contact me have the control of whether they do or don't?

I can't control who else they message, I can't cpntrol when they log on, when they go in the chatroom, how many messages they send.... but why shouldn't I have some degree of control about who messages me?

Do people have to have their enjoyment of the site spoilt because some poor overly sensitive souls can't handle being blocked?

What's the big deal about being blocked anyway... they are just saving you the time and effort of trying to contact them... is that such a bad thing?

I joined this site back in 2009 and ended up deleting my profile about 8 weeks ago due to the comments I was receiving regarding my preferences.

Having taken a breather I decided to give the site another try. I now reply to nearly all new messages unless they are from people who are way off the mark regarding preferences. If I reply with a "thanks but no thanks" or a "thanks but you need to take the time to read my profile" I also block without exception, as I don't want to receive the same nasty comments which have come my way in the past....

I can understand that some people are upset when they are blocked but life for me on this site is so much nicer with certain folks tucked up out of harms way in my block list, this is certainly not a power trip!!

Because thay never see themselfs as a person who needed to be blocked i know there are good resons why some need too here when things get nasty and people are not what your looking for.

i normally tell people thanks but no as they didnt read my profile and them delete and block them. I tell them so maybe at some point they learn to read a profile before mailing them. So i give a very big hint at why. If they choose to ignore the hint that is their choice

Well if they get upset by being blocked, I seriously suggest they either get a grip on reality and climb down off the ivory tall thing or get the anti-depressants ready for when they get their messages deleted or get knocked back.

I rarely block people and in over 2 years on this site I have a blocked list of 10 people: 8 I just got fed-up with their persistent pestering and mardy-arsed messages and the other 2 are just wankers.

I have been blocked by plenty more than I have ever blocked.

I have been blocked for sending a no thanks – big deal, they are doing me a favour by making sure they don’t contact me again.

I have been blocked because I deleted a message without replying - again big deal, they are doing me a favour by making sure they don’t contact me again.

I have been blocked by people who didn’t like my reply to them in the forum – big deal, if they are that sensitive they won’t be the type of person I am interested in and so they are also doing me a favour.

I have been blocked by people who gave no reason - so what, saves me contacting them when they already know they are not interested.

I have been blocked by people who are mates with someone else who doesn’t like me or my posting style – so what, I am not loosing sleep over anyone like that.

I have been blocked by people who have sent a nasty message to make sure I couldn’t reply – yeah it is annoying for about 30 seconds and then it just reminds me they have the emotional intelligence of Kev “it’s so not fair” and Perry and it makes me grateful I am not them.

What harm does being blocked do you… feck all!

i block people when they do not read my profile. I am looking for people who read my profile before mailing me. That is why i block lots of people. I normally tell them first that they didnt read my profile. Delete and block. My choice. Doesnt upset me if i am blocked. Get over it for heavens sake.

Lol, funny - I admit this has happened to me also, and am sure a fair few. It tells me the people that employ this tactic, in a bad to have the final say (like that puts money in the bank) really have no backbone or they'd stay to defend their _iew point with conviction. ie, cowards

I read this, then had to re read it..

Seriously can not see why people moan about being blocked. My block list is huge..

Reason is this.. Its my choice...Simples.. :D

If I dont think someone is my type or not what I am looking for then I block them, saves me having to think 2 months down the line.. hold on, have we spoken before.

Those I like I use the hotlist.. And the odd few get added to my friends list.

Remember a block is only one way.

If a person blocks you, and you do not block them back, a gutless twat can lift the block, send you an abusive message, and hide behind the block so that you cannot reply.

Therefore, remember to block back!
