I just feel they should put their comment on the tread. I feel its too pushy to pm. Its like you're having a convo then someone you don't no trys and join in. In the forums its acceptable for people to joint in. Pms are more private. Going from one to the other without asking is a bit wrong. However if you're talking to someone directly on the tread then its ok to pm.

I couldn't give a plumb pudding when I get a private message via the chat room. It's good to talk. But I guess a creepy message is a creepy message.

Most of the people I've chatted to or met have been off the back of a forum post, so it certainly works for me

Doesn't bother me if someone messages me about a forum post, i don't find it creepy at all, had some good conversations from it.

I tend to ignore the ones who try and dirty chat me just because i posted something sexual and mainly don't post in topics where the OP is fishing for people to message (got an idea of what topics do this now).

I never do it, wouldn't even consider it.

Put it in the thread or not at all.

It smacks of duplicity otherwise

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

I've received and sent PMs based on something on the forum - sometimes things that I don't want shared wider, and sometimes things that could possibly take the thread off topic.

I've also received loads - the majority lovely, and a few that I have queried why they reply to me direct and not on the forum too. Only rarely get weird ones.

If I agree with someone's thread, or have something to add in support, if they are getting flack, or on a more personal level that would not want to share with everyone, I will pm them.

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

I don't mind when I get messages from friends or posters about a thread we are both chatting on

Sometimes I get private messages relating to a thread and the people messaging haven't even commented on the thread which can be a bit wierd.....

They tend to be randomers who don't join in the forums but watch and message me trying to start a conversation. Often with their message they throw in a friend request too

People message us quite often about forum posts that I've made.

I think that if the forums are causing anguish or taking up brain space then it's quite a good idea to step away from them for a short period

Yes that is correct can seem that way.

I do message people from the forums usually positive comments or answering the question they have asked. That obviously isnt creepy as they asked for an opinion .

I do this.

Sometimes a discussion is getting a little heated, and rather than airing my dirty laundry in public, I prefer to do it privately. Or sometimes my answer involves private info that I don't want on the forum, or I'm asking personal stuff and prefer to be discreet. Sometimes I simply feel I owe someone an apology, or I want to check they're okay about something I've said without wishing to suck the humour out of a thread.

Loads of reasons really

(But I'll PM you the really juicy ones...)

I've had numerous pms from the back of my forum posts. Usually its to say they agree with me but dont want the fallout lol. One led to a meet, and we have become good friends. Doesn't bother me at all if people want to message me for any reason.

I get most of my messages as a result of posts on Forums which is great. I occasionally PM someone but mostly reply on the thread. Recently PMd someone as I was pretty sure they would get a ban from their thread, and they did!

I get quite a few private messages about forum posts. I don't mind unless they are abusive.

I'll also reply privately occasionally if its something I don't want to put on an open forum.

It got me chatting to quite a few people.
