Thoughts on providing face pics

Probably not an unusual thing to happen but just wondered people's personal thoughts on what they would do.

chatting away nicely for a while to someone getting on well he wants to meet and has seen a face pic of me as I am happy to let him see who I Am and eventually we get around to my asking to see just a normal face picture as I prefer to see who I am talking to if it is someone I am possibly interested in meeting .

So the response comes ..

I don't send any for professional reasons but I promise when we meet I won't turn up in a ski mask and you will like me...

not a huge deal as it would only be in a coffee shop but still for me I'm not here for blind date surely this is dubious or am I being way too wary?

Glasgow-ish

I always send one with my first message.

I'm beginning to question the wisdom of that lol

People don't tend to give you a chance to show your personality haha!

Guess I'm just a munter lol

I don't think there is any excuse for people not to send pics now that there is a feature to auto delete pics after the message has been read.

"Auto-remove photos from message after it's read (improved privacy)"

Maybe its for site supporters only, but NO excuse for no pictures nowadays

I wouldn't meet anybody who didn't have a face picture. I don't understand why people use the "professional reasons" excuse. If worst came to worst they could always deny it was them and say that someone used their pic!

I remember when I first joined (probably I was seen as a vulnerable 18 year old) a man tried to get me to meet him but wouldn't show me his face pic even though he had seen a few of me. He wanted to me turn up in a pub and sit and wait for him to come and sit with me. He then got annoyed when I explained how weird that situation would be and that I may not even end up being attracted to him. He said I would be but to be honest I didn't want to find out!

I've learned how to treat people on this site now and the ones I've met I have made sure to get to know them a little first through phone calls and Skype. I'd rather wait and be safe and if they don't have the patience then my plan worked out and ed the bad ones out lol

I only send face pics after I've spoken to others on phone.

I send them my number if they ring cool if they don't I suspect they timewasters/fakes

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

I don't even talk to people if I haven't seen their face after the first couple of messages. I send face pics with my initial message and if someone messages me I ask if they don't send. I avoid any profiles that say they don't do them, I am not desperate and there are plenty of sexy people out thee happy to show me what they look like. I tend to do play dates and not socials and I never do phone calls so I need to see if I like the look of a person before I commit myself

Delete and block. There really is no readonvto not send a face pic if you are planning a meet (unless you are David Cameron - now you never know all sorts if wankers on here!!) Esoecially with the new privacy feature that means you can remove the pic from the message after it's read.

Auto-remove is only for site supporters but does not imporove privacy as the person receiving the message could easily save the pic sent.

In a situation where we are messaging unkonown people (as on Fab) we value our privacy and do not send face pics until we know who we are messaging.

There are many valid reasons for not posting face pics either onsite or in messages

As long as the face pic is exactly that, I.e a picture showing only your face, then there is absolutely no reason not to send one because it gives you plausible deniability.....in other words you can say 'yes that's my pic but some bugger nicked it from FB and put it on that pervy site' etc

This would work even for famous people....

The problem would come if, said famous person also had their bits (or other peoples) dangling about with their face pic....if they did that then their IQ, or lack of it, would be a good reason not to meet...

Or summat

"Everyone is chiming in and agreeing about the need to get a face pic, as am I, but it would be interesting to hear from someone who disagrees..."

We disagree; attraction to us is the whole person not just a face. We would rather see an image of the full body rather than a face.

If the body image does not fit our idea of attractive that is more important than a facial attraction.

Should we therefore demand full body pics before a meet?

No we are adults and have long past the juvenile fantasy stage of thinking that attraction depends on looks

Having said that how a person looks is not really important to us, we are looking for swingers to share some time with we are not looking for life partners.

People’s attitude is far more important to us than looks, it is not surprising that there are so many disgruntled threads on Fab when people judge others on how they look rather than their personality.

I don't care what your body looks like. I know I am attracted to someone by if they have a good personality and I can tell if a person looks warm and kind by looking at their eyes........so if you sent me a face pic and nothing else I would decide if I liked you. It is incredibly dangerous for single women on here to meet a complete stranger and especially if she doesn't even know what he looks like. I am lucky, I have a husband who is always with me and looks after me but even I would not meet anyone without seeing what they look like. Why would I when there are hundreds of people who are very happy to show me.....far easier to meet those who do than try and force a picture out of someone who won't

We talk on here then on the phone, arrange a social meet and then when that is confirmed send face pics that delete when the message has been read just so they can recognise us on the day rather than look awkward trying to work out who we are . It's not "all about the face" attraction wise , it just helps when meeting for ID purposes.

Chatting without seeing a face pic is easily done if the initial contact is about a forum topic or maybe an aspect of their, or your, profile that prompted contact.

I wouldn't meet without eventually seeing a face pic but have chatted to people over a period of months without seeing one.

I just updated my profile text to address this. I'm happy to provide a face pic but I won't do it in my first message as some profiles demand you do. It's a two-way street and you want to be sure you're not 1) wasting your time and 2) needlessly jeopardising your privacy. Most people are anonymous on here until you get a conversation going with someone, and it's not fair to make someone step out of anonymity if you have no plans to do so yourself

Personally I wouldn't send them a face picture without seeing them plus if it shows on their profile that they've no pictures ie on the menu bit and they say like he said or similar, I would tell them thanks for message but I don't meet people without seeing face picture, end of conversation

. If someone cannot send a face picture , they must have something to hide. Unless he is the prime ministeror an M.P. , the professional reasons are just an excuse . I keep full body pictures on my profile and face pictures are private but sent to any potential meet . Without a picture anyone can describe themselves as they like and it could all be a pack of lies . Why does he think he is so important that he is unable to send a picture.?. I am very average looking but prefer to be turned down on grounds of looks at point of initial contact than string someone along and then be declined when we meet, in person .

People with friends and families, they don't want to be outed as a swinger... . Yes ,but if you read profiles carefully you should be able to risk assess if the member to whom you are sending pictures are likely to be friends or family. "

There's no way of knowing who you are chatting to. Some people don't want to take any risk.

"Probably not an unusual thing to happen but just wondered people's personal thoughts on what they would do.

chatting away nicely for a while to someone getting on well he wants to meet and has seen a face pic of me as I am happy to let him see who I Am and eventually we get around to my asking to see just a normal face picture as I prefer to see who I am talking to if it is someone I am possibly interested in meeting .

So the response comes ..

I don't send any for professional reasons but I promise when we meet I won't turn up in a ski mask and you will like me...

They are probably better staying in the house with the door locked, laptop off, never meet meeting anyone then? Just in case.....

I would certainly not meet without seeing a face pic snd am quite happy to send one after we have been chatting a while. As someone else pointed out it is not blind date.

"I don't think there is any excuse for people not to send pics now that there is a feature to auto delete pics after the message has been read.

"Auto-remove photos from message after it's read (improved privacy)"

Maybe its for site supporters only, but NO excuse for no pictures nowadays

Auto-remove is only for site supporters but does not imporove privacy as the person receiving the message could easily save the pic sent.

In a situation where we are messaging unkonown people (as on Fab) we value our privacy and do not send face pics until we know who we are messaging.

There are many valid reasons for not posting face pics either onsite or in messages

If you are serious about meeting someone you will send a face pic to them. Otherwise how do you determine attraction? Too many fantasists on here just getting off on the chat."

If someone doesn't send a face photo in first couple of messages I just ignore them. No face photo not interested.

It is ludicrous to even consider meeting without first seeing a face pic .

Very few people can honestly say they don't care what someone looks like . For those who do , good luck and fair play .

I wouldn't meet, even for a social, without seeing a face pic first. If not on here then via email or something. No one's need for discretion is more important than mine, and I wouldn't expect someone to meet me without seeing mine.

Yep I always attach a face pic when asked and if I send a message then I attach a face pic first I see no reason not to personally.

I get it a lot where guys won't send pics due to jobs, I don't have loads of free time to meet so if one guy sends me a face pic and I like and another guy refuses so its hit and miss I will fancy him who am I going to pick really

Yes exactly the ego alone was a turn off and presuming he knew what I liked. I did wonder what profession he thought made him so important that he couldn't possibly risk it.

It did make me chuckle though.

So we take it that none of you consider the safety of women who have been raped and molested or hounded and have had to change their name and address is a good enough reason for refusing to send face pics.

How many of you have actually taken the time to think of what valid reasons there are that some people might want to be careful before they reveal a face pic on the internet?

How many of you realise that once an image is on the internet it can be traced?

But there again it is probably good that you do refuse to meet those who have to be careful as it seems you lack understanding of basic security and discretion.

If I lived my entire life in fear of being raped, molested or hounded I wouldn't even walk down the street let alone meet strangers from the internet. In the modern world where most people have some online presence, a face picture is not too much to ask. Someone further up used the phrase 'plausible deniability' and that's spot on. I use a photo that could have been obtained elsewhere.

I repeat, no one's need for discretion is more important than mine: they are free not to send a face pic, I am free to reject them on that basis. Neither of these things makes me naive about security or discretion.

So out of curiosity how do you arrange your meets off here? Unless I saw someone's face i have absolutely no reason to meet them.

. The pictures are only sent after the sender has had a chance to do a detailed re_iew of the profile of the member to whom they are sending the photogragh . It is completely unacceptable to ask for a photograogh but refuse to send one. The photos are being sent to one named member , not for all members to re_iew on their profile. In the highly unlikely event of their being a security risk , surely it is much better to identify it as the exchange of photograph stage that when you meet in person.

I agree that it's more than acceptable to me display face pice publicly for "professional" reasons or for reasons of celebrity. On the other hand I can think of no acceptable reason for not sending a face pic in a private message to someone you have hopes of meeting. Although we both have public ally facing jobs where being "outed" could be difficult, we generally send face pics with our first message to someone we have desires to meet with.... If we're not attractive to them, there's no point chatting further.

I think for TG it is essential, as there is such a large variety in look. Some girlys are dabhands with make up (yes, Gemma, I am looking at you) and some are still learning, whilst others have beards and this can come as a surprise.

I can't see any reason why you can't send a face pic, especially when at the meeting stage, how do you even know who you will be looking for at the arranged meet.. my "timewaster" and "crazy" senses would be tingling for sure.

"I don't even talk to people if I haven't seen their face after the first couple of messages. I send face pics with my initial message and if someone messages me I ask if they don't send. I avoid any profiles that say they don't do them, I am not desperate and there are plenty of sexy people out thee happy to show me what they look like. I tend to do play dates and not socials and I never do phone calls so I need to see if I like the look of a person before I commit myself "

I wouldn't dream of meeting somebody without him seeing me first, what's the point in getting ready and going to meet somebody when he may not even like you, if I'm not his type I'd sooner know over the PC while I'm sat in my warm house than after I've spent hours getting ready and getting to a meet

This tread is Internet gold.

Is this 1985? Do people even do blind dates anymore?

Technology is here for a reason. Use it

Look you can turn on your phone cam , webcam , and Skype for 5 seconds to show your face.

Who in their right mind is going to some strange place to meet a stranger they never seen?

No face pic = ugly as sin

And if you're stupid enough to go meet. This person , please come on the forums and complain that everyone is a time waster.
