steampunk uk, who wears brass goggles on fab?

I used to be a strong follower of the UK steampunk scene. I have entered into a life changing relationship and I haven't been active in steampunk for a long time. Having hung up my Brown leather and brass for black leather and chrome.

Who are still active in the UK steampunk scene?

My House

We were down in Camden Market only 2 weekends ago spending more than a few hundred on SteamPunk gear for our sons birthday. Personally we love the look but wouldn't wear it due to being fat old farts

I have made some gowns and outfits for people in the past, but I don't wear tht kind of thing myself.

I do however play some dystopian future roleplay games with copious dressing up!

'Brass goggles' Is the official UK Forum, you'll find brass goggles on FB as well. You'll find an event every weekend. I was part of cottonopolis coglective for a while.

Brighton - even Hove!

I don't dress or partake but have modded a few Nerf guns to make them into Mr Ramora's gas powered hyper-gun version 7's, which, as you're all well aware, are the flight explorers weapon of choice against aero-pirates.

It something that has always interested me, I actually bought some steampunk type glasses today.

I've also seen various shops that stock things if you wanted to start crafting but I dont think I am clever enough to have a go

I spoke to a woman who works at torture garden and they class steampunk as suitable uniform to be allowed into the inner sanctums. Exactly on par with gimp suits.

Club lash and the townhouse run steampunk themed parties a couple of times in the year.

The is a definite steampunk and fetish overlap. I migrated seamlessly lol

Brighton - even Hove!

At the last annual Brighton Zombie Walk, there was a group of armed steampunks by the Pier.

You don't have to be that artistic. Just wander around charity shops, find a women's sized t waist coat. Claires accessories do small top hat fascinators. Find a long flowing skirt. And your already half dressed

Primark have loads of brass jewelry, you can attach necklaces to a brown leather belt.

I used to dismantle old video players and spray the plastic gears with bronze spray paint from wilkinsons.

You could always check out Eastbournes steampunk event. A group will probably be at Wyntercon too.

When we went to Torture Garden earlier in the year the guy behind us was almost refused entry because of his Steamy outfit.... And quite right too IMHO. I wouldn't have let him or his GF in.

We have been to the last two Lincoln Steampunk festivals (the largest in the World). I would think the vast majority of attendees would absolutely not consider, or want, SP to be considered 'fetish'. I will have a straw poll in August when we are there...

Personally, for me, going to a Fet event dressed in steamy wear is a major copout.

Although wearing a football shirt could be someone's fetish I guess...so who knows

I have worn some of my SP stuff to work with no issues... stuff I have worn at Fet events would have had me marched off site sharpish lol

We caused a stir at Whitby last week although I was in my 'fet' wear lol.... Bloody exhibitionists!

And bloody pissed women exposing mi bits by lifting my kilt lol

We were at the Lincoln jamboree last year, and made an impromptu attempt at dressing the part. We were blown out of the water by most costumes however. Some were exceptional and defy description.

Maybe Mrs J will model some corsetry this year, as a supporting rôle to her dirigibles.
