best to go to one of the nights to see for yourself, i honestly think i have met some of the nicest people on fet nights. I also will say this "it isnt all about pain!" alot of people think its all spanking and flogging, it isnt. infact it annoys me that alot of people who go to these things regularly think that to.

BD = Bondage and Discipline

DS = Domination and Submission

SM - Sado Machosism

So being into BDSM isn't about being into the whole scene.

Lot's of people who wouldn't class themselves as being into BDSM are into mild bondage or mildly submissive or mildly domineering etc.

Extreme BDSM exists of course, Humiliation, depravation, mummification, etc.
