Rainbow were amazing with him and Dio, Blackmore's Night who he is now with are actually pretty good live. He always had leanings to that genre, even in early Rainbow stuff theres plenty of clues

Ronnie James Dio is a great loss to rock, don't think Purple are under estimated by anyone that loves rock, still maintain when Ritchie left , it changed

Deep Purple was one of my first concerts, got dragged along by my Dad, wasn't so keen at 14 but they have grown on me over the years, quite liked their Bananas album a few years back

Burn is incredible, Perf Strangers also but can you beat Made in Japan, honestly? and yes, never the same after RB left, even though Bolin tried hard. Last saw them in 93 and they were stunning, Morse just isn't the same. A day in the mud at Knebworth in 1985 I will never forget, rain/beer and a loud gig with loads of lasers - teenage heaven!

My favourite band of all time. Richie Blackmore is also my #1 guitarist of all time. Loved all the Mk2 & Mk3 stuff, with Made in Japan a standout live album.

I once collected 53 different versions of "Mistreated" as MP3 files, by Deep Purple and as many other bands doing covers as I could find. (sad or what)

Saw them at Knebworth on their return. Great gig. Then at Birmingham's NEC, also awesome, but after that, Ian Gillan faded, Blackmore left, Jon Lord sadly died...it's not the same any more.

I have all 19 studio albums but think Machine Head is ma favourite.

Saw them at Knebworth in '85 and at the NIA a couple of years ago. Am going to see them again at the O2 in Dec
