Advice or attention

Threads that claim to be seeking advice on how to get a reply or meet, or what to put in the profile or in the first message, seem so rarely to be doing any more than just trying to attract attention and sympathy leading to a meet, usually in vain, via the forum.

Genuine advice-seekers regularly acknowledge the sound advice given and apply it.

Attention-seekers either carp and find reasons why they cannot go to socials or follow any other advice, stay silent not acknowledging advice, or go and start another thread harping on the same theme seeking sympathy and attention elsewhere.

The forums seem to have more of the latter than the former right now.

Also noticed that the vast majority of these are "single" guys (giggle) who cannot accommodate.

Can't take advice on (e.g. Socials) because can't get out due to partner etc....

Most are in the category of fake/cheat/wannabe/dreamer.........best to ignore?

Isn't everyone on here seeking attention of one sort or other?

"Is this the right place for the look at me thread? "

A very good question, but it seems to work. Although some people don't get the kind of attention they bargained for. Which is why these threads can be so much fun.

I think I can see the argumemt both ways. As a single man you need to try stamd out a bit to get attention. I can see the motivation and reasoning there. However, not taking on board the advice given is counter productive and is badically like a fuck or pass thread.

A little presumptious for you to assume their efforts are 'in vain' as you say.

I personally love the 'know it alls' who state the obvious or those who's question the less experienced, but surely...it's not about attention or trying to get any acceptance, it's constructive right? Lol

Seems to bother you guys are trying to use your precious forum to get themselves somewhere on here which really is a bit petty

A vast amount of threads on here are 'look at me ones' some are very obviously so and others not.

Depends on the OP as to whether the thread has they desired effect or whether it implodes into fabicide!

Here's the thing .... The % of those on fab that use the forum is incredibly low . If you look at the amount of users online now at any given time you will realise it's maybe 1%:.

And the same regular posters roll out the same advice time after time . But is this advice any use ? Given that 99% of fab users never come on the forums it's open to conjecture .

So if the people who post are looking for attention , do they even get that given the small numbers seeing their post ?

It's an interesting thought , and perhaps any attention is better than none at all , as is any advice is better than none at all too . But in the grand scheme of fab , whatever motive and result that occurs on the forum is not that important really .

I couldn't agree more.

When advice is sought and accepted, which then leads to the poster getting some success, then it is very gratifying all round, although it seems the implosions are more frequent...

The thing which irritates in so many cases is the ignoring of all advice and the whiner that does not take on the easy profile changes suggested...

We prefer creating a thread, whereby you put pros and cons about the profile above, used to do this ages ago when we first came on fab, but it's not been done since.

There are a lot of help me threads just seeking attention not advice....running multiple threads concurrently is a big clue....

I wonder if that's true.

There have recently been quite a few diabolical threads that can't have done the OPs any good and most likely have repelled many....

only if everyone on the site reads the forums, which they don't. and some of them do have meets already so must be doing something right.
