"The technical answer is some people have poorer emotional regulation than others. It's something you are born with and has a genetic element. Some people (kids and adults) are generally much more stable and others are prone to being more up and down with less control over this. It's a hard thing to teach and learn if you don't have it innately. Imagine feeling every emotion you usually feel, but 20x stronger. Some people just do. It's related to sensory processing - some people are much more sensitive to sound, temperature, or have poorer regulation of sending where their body is in space. I heard about one little lad who couldn't sense properly when he was thirsty and the mum had to get the school to make him drink using an alarm as a reminder. I was at a seminar about this recently.
