The technical answer is some people have poorer emotional regulation than others.

It's something you are born with and has a genetic element. Some people (kids and adults) are generally much more stable and others are prone to being more up and down with less control over this.

It's a hard thing to teach and learn if you don't have it innately.

Imagine feeling every emotion you usually feel, but 20x stronger. Some people just do.

It's related to sensory processing - some people are much more sensitive to sound, temperature, or have poorer regulation of sending where their body is in space.

I heard about one little lad who couldn't sense properly when he was thirsty and the mum had to get the school to make him drink using an alarm as a reminder.

I was at a seminar about this recently. Fascinating stuff.

Necessarily deep. It's a great post, informative, educational yet contains tongue in cheek undertones and dry humour. It encapsulates this thread entirely. A very dramatic type of a post, top of the tree type of a post, owning the thread type of a post, a true boss post, Queen worthy, King worthy type of a post.

Dunno OP, some of us are quite relaxed and laid back!

Correct, to the user that genetics are a factor, however it needs to be remembered also experiences in the early years could also have an impact on how we regulate emotions.

How a Mother bonds with her baby can impact on neuron development in the frontal cortex (part of the brain that deals with emotion). Love really does shape a babys future disposition, which includes the ability to manage emotions

See Bowlby, Gerber, Ainsworth for their findings on attachment theory and the impact it has on child development now and the future
