I'm no lady (but I wouldn't mind trying it out for a day or two!) but anything that generates a sharp pain anywhere can't be all that normal I wouldn't have thought?

And I'm no Doctor either, but when it comes to your health my mantra is it's better safe than sorry so maybe get it checked out?
