One of the things I dislike about tight jeans / suchlike are the marks it leaves from the seams.

Late last night I watched Mad Men for the first time, for those who don't know it, it's set in the 30s and I thought that the nighties the women were wearing were really sexy.

Mad Men is by far one of the sexist programmes around, the women look fantastic.

That said, I'm not a fan of men in shirt / trousers, I find it too generic. Makes me feel like a business meeting.

Some peoples tastes differ, I love a guy in trousers and a shirt but on the other hand would take very kindly to a guy/girls alternative atire, LOVE the goth look (and we'd probably have more in common) But well dressed and not scruffy im happy

I always wear something fairly nice but comfy for a meet, i would never ever wear a short skirt with no knickers. I like you, the thrill of whats underneath, though ive no objection to a man going commando having seen some of the underwear men wear, so not sexy

Would love to have a going out option in the wardrobe like Madmen, alas my shopping abilities tend not to be that great - probably need the services of a proper suit shop (not naff high street chains).

Cargo's/casual trousers and a shirt. Shirts range from blue strippy to pink floral, and all stages in between.

Underwear, mmm looks like boxers are going out of fashion, commando is fun, especially as on a few second dates, comments about noticing this fact apparently helped. I presume I fill a pair of trousers nicely.

If you need to justify to yourself how to pick what to wear, think of it this way...would you go out jogging in trackie bottoms or shorts or jeans/cargo's?

What would you wear to a wedding or funeral? The same jeans/cargo's?

Maybe I'm old fashioned here, but I think that there's a dress code for every occasion, and in the swinging scene, a smart appearance does you credit. If you are trying to "sell" (not a good word but the best I can think of) yourself to people who don't know you, ask yourself if how you think you look is as important as what others think of the way that you look? Does looking like a chav score you points with people who have grown up out of their mid-twenties?

As I said above, first impressions count, and once that impression has been made then I think you can go on to express the inner you a bit more.

My reason for avoiding the suit trousers and jacket approach, is that is not me.

When I say cargo's I don't mean scruffy ripped stuff, but decent comfortable ones. Chino's are just too plain, and say office accountant to me.

For a 'date' it is one of my more tailored shirts, which these days range from Next to Saville Row depending on what I like that year. When I was married it was all C&A and Debenhams but have moved on now.

Perhaps I've seen too many dickheads in business (what most mean by smart) clothes. Thats not to say I don't have suites, three in fact, DJ, double and single, just they are mainly for business functions. Alas were not tailor made, and I can tell now.

As was said, where is Gok Wan when you need him.

Im quite a girly girl and I dont really do trousers or jeans - i turn up for a meet as I would a night out with my friends, a dress with heels and gorgeous underwear underneath. I do love lingerie, I never feel right unless ive got a nice knickers and bra set on or a basque etc. I dont really dress any different for a meet than i would any other time, i always go for a dress or a skirt and top.
