Best (or worst) excuse to not meet

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

I am sure we have all been let down on a meet last minute. Yesterday for example a woman I had been chatting to for a couple of months (from another) site was going to come round subject to a doctors appointment, and poor lass Is now pregnant from her first fling after 8 years of celebacy so was in pieces (and obviously didn't come over). Now I don't doubt her sincerity but that has to be the best stood up line I have heard. Would be interested in yours fabbers and your opinions

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I arranged an afternoon meet with a guy, social in a pub first then hopefully back to his. Half an hour after we were supposed to meet he texted me to say he couldn't make it as he was still in bed with the woman he'd met the night before.

At least the pub served good beer.

About 15 mins into a bi mmf meet with one guy I knew well and a new guy. We were making him feel welcome with a shared bj and he came, no probs we were just getting started... Then his phone rang.

He worked for an agency and one of the lads he'd sent to a warehouse had had his foot run over by a forklift truck.. And he had to go right then to meet him at the hospital. I'm pretty sure it was genuine cos I heard most of the other part of the conversation too, it was a rather good 'excuse' to do one after getting him jollies tho!

The absolute most unforgettable excuse I ever heard was about a year ago now. .

"My best friends son got killed by a car sorry I can't make it"...

I HAD to believe that as I just refused to believe someone is capable of coming out with shit like that as an excuse.

I fully believed it..right up to the point when I logged on fab a day or so later and saw a status update in my feed of:

"I broke a rule last night..great night"

Which was promptly deleted within about 2 minutes of me logging on.

That has to be the best, worst and quite frankly pathetic excuse I've ever had yet.

I arranged to meet a guy in a pub, waited 15 mins no show, so texted, no answer. The following day got a text apologising he had been at the hospital with his mate and couldn't text me back. I didn't know they screened sky sports and d*unk beer in hospitals. His status from that night " great match and a few beers with the lads"

Cheeky sod asked to rearrange!

Was speaking to one guy for a few months who could only be local in the week "due to work". Weekly meets are very tricky for us time wise/other commitments but he was persistent and we got on great so arranged a meet. Ten minutes before we we're about to set off we get a message saying he's a two hour drive away and is now in a different hotel but he's ready and waiting.

Needless to say we didn't bother to drive, lol.

I've had several in my early fab days:

I've had a car accident on the way

(20 mins before the meet time and id paid for a hotel and arranged for a female friend to come for an mff and we were sat there patiently waiting but luckily managed to get us two stunt cocks in later that day!)

I have to take my exes dog to the vets

(a club meet, I was meant to meet him there...ended up having a great night without him)

My real mother has got in touch after not seeing her for 20 years and I have to drive to Scotland to see her as she's dying

(he was saying this to me as he was stood outside the pub I was watching him from whilst he was waiting for a date with my friend he'd also been lying to...oh how we giggled at him)

I cant come now as its too icy to walk up the street (i was waiting at the top of the street in my car ready to jet him off to a club)

I could go on lol...thankfully I think my bullshit detector is in full working order now and Im not half as gullible stupud as i clearly was then!!

As returning members (5years on and off) we arranged out first meet on our new profile last week with a guy we had chatted to last time we were here. Keen as mustard he was, just like the previous times we chatted.

Being a laid back chap, my fella agreed to give him another chance to meet. As good people we confirmed 3 days prior. And right up to two hours to meeting he still hadn't confirmed he was meeting us.

So my horn was slightly knocked to say the least. But we should have known better. He did the same to us last time.

So my question is. Why is it so hard for single guys to confirm? We have work and families to work around. Planning is essential for us.

Never had a last minute cancellation. Only had some profiles go silent when I've messaged to confirm a meet arranged the previous week.

Only time I've had to cancel was when I didn't go to a party recently. I had food poisoning. It's a shame, as its sounds like an obvious lie so pretty sure there will be no 2nd chance.

I've not been on here for over a year but I've had a few guys, who don't know its me, who I arranged to meet on my old profile and then disappeared who are still here, still not verified and I can't see the point in being here or what they get out of it.

I agree with you, I had a few no shows, which pissed me off so much that I left for a while. Now I'm back with new profile and same guys are messaging me!

I just delete now.

Should be able to leave negative feedback like ebay. To warn others. But I suppose they'd just get a new profile too!!

I know what you mean but it would be abused, can see it now. You politely turn down a meet for whatever reason and they send negative feedback because they're bitter at being turned down.

My favourite on is not so much an excuse than a reason

I was meeting a guy, had just got to the arranged meeting place when I got a text saying

Sorry but there has been a change of plan I'm now meeting someone else so won't be coming to meet you, I'm free tomorrow if you want to re arrange

Have to give 10 out of 10 for honestly

We had a social meet with a guy (not on this site) with a view to a bi mmf. We got along ok and he seemed keen so we went ahead and arranged a play meet.

On the afternoon of the meet he messaged to say he couldn't go through with it as it would be 'too mechanical and lacking in emotion'. Fair play - we weren't offering harps and choirs of heavenly angels - just sex!

You can report them, then there's an option to tick if they didn't show to a meet, I think if they fail to show to 3 arranged meets they should get a red flag on there profile to warn others there timewasters!

"As returning members (5years on and off) we arranged out first meet on our new profile last week with a guy we had chatted to last time we were here.

Mrs x

We were speaking to a couple at chams one night and they had been let down on a meet with a single lady, she said she could no longer meet that evening as she had had a spray tan in the day and she couldn't get sweaty or else it would come off.

I couldn't help but laugh....loud... They looked puzzled at my laughter, they did think this was a plausable excuse and were hoping to re-schedule the meet. Xx

For the best effect the excuse must be delivered with less than an hour to the meet and be a fatuious one. "Sorry, My car won't start"

"But you only live 300 metres from where i am?"

The ultimate accolade is to get a veri from another meet on the same day and time.

And yes, couples are just as likely to time waste as limp dicked single guys.

Arranged to meet in the Bar at the hotel we had booked and paid for.

10 mins before the meet, we got a text saying "sorry, I am really in the Special Forces and I have been called on a secret mission, I will contact you when I am back in the country"

2 days later saw him in a swingers club and then drive off from the car park in his "parts delivery van" for the local Ford Dealer.

I could honestly write a book on this subject.

One that sticks out was a woman who disappeared just before an arranged meet, the next day she said she had been pulled by the police and breathalysed and because she had a drink to "calm her nerves" before she set off she was over the limit and arrested !

We had arranged to meet somewhere and she had already told me what car to look out for ( a very nice one btw) and her personal reg.

All the time she was supposedly being arrested and dragged to the cells she kept signing in and out of her account which was the first alarm bell! The second was the dvla check i did that proved no such car even existed ( model and number plate)!!!

That wasnt even one of the best ive had!

We had a guy go quiet before we were due to meet. Then a text to say he'd had an accident in work and had broken ribs and had to cancel. Hmmm.

Then she just disappeared when id asked what happened and how she was signing in and out.

Don't think I want to meet a grown up who gets arrested.

You'd think so except the Police don't allow you to use your phone while you're in custody - they make you switch it off.

Never been let down last minute.. the time spent on online chat before I get to meeting tends to out the ones who aren't going to bother...

I hardly ever get stood up; my system of meeting and screening is almost totally fail and fool proof

Only once have I been let down last minute. ...He was stopped by the police and had his car impounded......I still don't know whether I would prefer that to be made up or the truth

When I text a guy the morning of the meet to confirm it, as I said I would, he said as he hadn't heard from me, he'd made other plans

The gas board was digging up the payment and had blocked her car in

So she could not make it

One guy I've seen a few times can no longer meet me this summer because he's emigrated. It's certainly the most creative let down I've had.

I had a meet arranged not long ago with a lovely lady at mine, then got some sort of allergic reaction to something I'd been working on so had to cancel Not contagious but the anti-histamines pretty much knocked me out. At least it was a couple of days ahead of the meeting and she understood. I'd always confirm a meet and give as much notice as possible if something comes up, it's only fair to the person you're meeting. Things happen but sometimes the excuse just doesn't ring true... c'est la vie
