I use Photoshop or Illustrator. Think you can do it using Gimp too and that one is free

Black and white can be both classy and very erotic when done carefully. Perhaps we should have more on our profile

They can indeed be nice. As can black and white with a splash of colour. Or colour.

Fence-sitting enough? I seriously like all different types of photos.

Lightroom is very good for this.

Look for clothing too that is highly coloured and then filter out all others which will pull the highlights up.

Another option is touch toning - where you can just add a single spot back in - not all programs/apps offer this though.

Snapseed is very very good on IOS

Certainly recommend Lightroom - use it all the time (on RAW images) and we never use photoshop

Newcastle Upon Tyne

A true black and white photo where you can see the silver and true to life tonal range is wondrous, though its the content of the photo and not the presentation of said photo that says if it's good...personally e6 with the correct colour filtering does it for me, artistically...

It may show that I like B&W shots although I think I'll add some colour to some for a change otherwise it's a bit samey maybe.

"We have started altering some of ours to black and white & love it. Now need to learn to add colour to parts of it and I'll be a happy bunny x"

few ways you can do that, some programs can do it automatically.

you can also reduce individual colours, say blues, by reducing saturation/brightness/hue etc

sometimes if I have a good part of the image, I can copy it(selecting a lasso), then copy and paste it onto a duplicate image

No just use a mobile but Jay has got a laptop so might upload them to that and use that as there should be more options I would have thought

With a PC - There is a free photo program called (now don't laugh) GIMP, its basically photoshop and quite techie, however, what you can do on that program is load up two photos, place them side by side, turn one black and white (and its then that I suggest you adjust the light and shade to get the shadows etc. that you like.

Then go across to the coloured photo, use the magic scissors tool to clip the coloured components of that photo out and paste them over the same areas in the B&W photo, bit convoluted, but you get a good result, and you can use the smudge tool, to take out any "bleeding"

Sorry if thats all a bit anorak
