Just wondering how many swingers out there are in open relationships. Just wondered about people's thoughts and how it works for them. This is something I would like and would love people's inputs

lol hell no - not for us anyway

Open relationships are full relationships with other people - all equal/emotionally/sexually.

You're not tied to anyone.

My partner and I do everything together. Swinging with other couples is sex only. In the same room.

We don't kiss them or share private details of our lives with them.

Great replies for me an open relationship is me being with someone on an emotional level and committed too but also to have relationship with others but on a less emotional level or just friendship and sex .

Is there anything specific you'd like to know? 'How it works' is kind of broad.

How many partners you have and when do you see them? How did the relationship start and do you love equally?

We describe ourselves as friends with benefits but I sometimes wonder if it's actually an open relationship

It depends how you define partners. I guess I have two well established partners, a newer partner, and some play partners. I care about them all equally. I see them when there's a good time in our calendars - just like any other relationship I guess.

The relationships started like any other. Mostly 'hey, would you like to get coffee sometime?' and we took it from there.

I don't think I love anyone, but that's really because I don't really understand what 'love' means in our society. I care about them all equally and I have emotional investment with them all.

My wife and I are in a loving married relationship.

We both have full sex with other people, either together or as the other watches.

I also go to Tgirl events and have sex with men.

We don't sleep with anyone who isn't in a sex club where no strings fun is the norm.

An open relationship, to our minds, would be the freedom to have sex with anyone we can.

That's not for us.

It's worth noting that there are *usually* distinct differences between open relationships and polyamory. Open relationships tend to not allow emotional investment outside of the nucleus couple (e.g. swinging). Polyamory tends to encourage emotional investment.

My wife and I are polyamorous and open, which means that we see other people for casual fun and sometimes form deep emotional bonds when it is appropriate.

It works for us. I cannot imagine not being open, not having the freedom to explore sexual and emotional attractions to other women.

We long ago got past any jealousy issues, indeed I often become friends with my wife's lovers and she with mine. Once you examine society's norms you often find there's no real reason for them other than they are the current cultural norm. Throughout history human beings have practised all imaginable kinds of relationship dynamic. Monogamy is pretty uncommon in the animal kingdom and in humankind throughout history.
