First Block

cahoots

Had our first block today after explaining why we wouldn't be interested in meeting a particular guy. Thought we were simply being honest by explaining, he sent a comment back and immediately blocked us....even though, as we are not interested we wouldn't be contacting him anyway. Nothing like the abuse that some people say they receive though so all good.

Does this mean we've come of age on Fab?

Almost, when you've been blocked for no reason you will have. Oh and once you've had a trip to the forum naughty corner

He blocked you I imagine as you said 'you wernt interested'.

He could be bitter, if not, he;s possibly using the block correctly.

... where the streets have no name!

... I use the 'block' on occasions just to save me bothering people again who've politely said 'no thanks' or who have clearly indicated they're not interested.

There's no malice in it - just saves their (and my) time.

I'd write notes on here - but I'm too idle.... lol

Some, like us, use it as a filter to prevent us contacting the person again. It is a tool, not a weapon and no offence should be taken.

Sadly, however, some do use it as a weapon... there's nothing worse than receiving a malicious or unfair message out of the blue - then being blocked so you have no 'right of reply'.

B & M Bargains

I had someone who moaned on his profile that time wasters and people who don't reply will be blocked.

I read his message, I think it just said hi, and moany profile and thought nope not for me so deleted.

Within 2 mins I had a 2nd message "jus 2 let u no ur blocked, ur loss!"

Now that is a man using the block as a weapon! Not that I was bothered, happy to never hear from him again!

We probably have half the members on here blocked - not out of malice but because it eliminates those we aren't interested in. Also we alsways check out the profiles of those that wink or look at us and if one of us isn't interested, then we block and when the other half logs in and sees they're blocked, they know it's not a good fit for the other half...

Woking-ish

I nearly joined you (in making my first block) in my news update page was a couple who's profile was 95% rant about people who didn't do exactly as they want. They essentially said all singles were losers and would be blocked.

That's fine you might think, apart from being a little rude, it's their choice. They then went on to say they'd only consider a single guy who could bring a girl along!.... but that's a couple isn't it?

I resisted the urge to message them to suggest their life might be easier if they first changed the list of people who they're looking for so it no longer INCLUDES singles and then actually block both single guys and girls from contacting them.

The idea of them continuing to go purple each time somebody tries to contact them is too good to prevent.

I know I'm evil lol

Newcastle and Gateshead

i honestly sometimes think it just the fact that people are blocked they take umbridge with...

it's the fact that they are blocked and the other person got the final say.....

why would anyone every be bothered not being in contact with someone who you had decided you werent going to play with anyway....

we talk about "timewasters" a lot here.... isn't blocking someone in essence a "timesaver"... after all, wanted nothing to do with each other.... now you cant!!!!
