Best of to get Alkyl nitrate on import - the butyl nitride, (the crap you usually get) will hurt your lungs and give you a bad headache is you really wanna USE it.

Love them. My FB likes a good sniff to help relax her, before a good fisting.

From the medical point of view they will cause your blood pressure to drop for a minute or so. It's a transient drug so the effects are short lived.

If you happen to have a heart condition or know anybody with one it will do the same to you as the GTN spray that angina patients have.

One side effect is a cracking headache, doesn't always happen but when it does I guzzle a pint of water and it seems to pass.

Be careful to just sniff them gently to get the vapours. Sniff too hard and you risk snorting and swallowing them which is a definite bad thing

Correct - they should not be used with viagra type medication, as blood pressure changes are dangerous, as with anyone with a heart/blood pressure condition.

I like them but it's a pity the stuff generally sold now isn't as good. You can get stuff from other suppliers, as people have mentioned.

Headaches are something that I've had, but would you drink a litre of vodka etc if you'd never taken alcohol? Use the tiniest amount, until you know your limit/tolerance. I don't get headaches ever, as I only take a tiny amount. They're not a drug per se, hence they are legally sold in shops etc. (The original stuff was medication, and thus is prescription only).

In 1996 The Royal Pharmaceutical Society brought a successful prosecution under the Medicines Act against a vendor of poppers. The different nitrates (or nitrites) products can now only be sold on medical prescription. Hence why they are sold as room odorizers and not sold for human consumption!

There have been cases reported where they caused 'Poppers Maculopathy' (Retinopathy), or, "a painless bilateral decreased visual acuity accompanied with central photopsias (...) with no ocular pain and described photopsias and a central scotoma"

On the other hand, it is kind of a certain fragment of the Swingers' community to volunteer for more case studies for our A&E departments so we can understand this better!

It's a poison that restricts the blood vessels, it's used for rabbits moles and rats mainly.

Amyl nitrate has the opposite effect to phostoxin, which is what gives the rushing hot sensation when sniffed as your blood vessels dilate.

When I went to agricultural collage one of the modules was pest control and part of that was practical...we were given the poison kits and each one contained a bottle of poppers should we accidentally wet the pellets of poison and get a sniff of the resultant gas, the amyl nitrate was the liquid gold type you see in shops!

You never saw a bunch of redder faced students....

Tried lots of different poppers they vary a lot some good ,some not so good ,some will give you a headache some won't . find the brand that suits you best and enjoy . although I do certainly agree they are not to everyone's taste, personally I think they are great. But that's just my opinion

Alkyl nitrite is a generic term which includes butyl nitrit. They are all classified as carcinogens by HSE.

as someone stated, mostly they're alkyl nitrites, typically butyl or isopentyl or some such. Tried most of them and they're all pretty rubbish compared to amyl nitrite, which you can still get, but you have to hunt around for it.

There are dangers and health implications, but like everything else, in moderation they can be good fun.
