"Lol. I know this isn't exactly a swinging topic but just viewed yet another profile with awful grammar and spelling. No I'm not a teacher - but does it bother anyone else?" If for whatever reason you don't like a profile move on to the next one. If I can understand what is written it's fine.

"I am guilty of poor spelling and grammar on here at times due to not paying attention to detail and being more relaxed about writing as I would be with pen to paper. That said, it does bug me a little when people confuse there, their and they're in general. Watch me slip up and do so myself at some point and feel free to point it out. " I'm just waiting for someone to check mine or for my autocorrect to kick in and I'll be jumped on for any errors I've made!! No-one is perfect! That's what makes us special!! Xx

"We dont expect people to write us a letter on a meet. Her" Maybe a French letter. However we do bypass the profiles that have bad punctuation and grammar only for one reason. We also want to have a good conversation too and the way someone talks due mek a big diverense und if dey dun mek senze it puts us ov. Wow my spell check was going mad then. Yes we know it is a swingers site but a conversation has to the place at some time. Nice just to have an educated conversation. So yes it does put us off.

"Aw, I know. I don't mean to be harsh but there's some really good profiles and then they spoil it! I know, I'm a nerd/snob! X" OP, It should say "there are" not "there's" Seriously though, I don't think it's snobbery at all. The issue usually raises its head when a bloke has come on asking for profile advice. Very often they are so badly written as to be nearly incomprehensible. It's not snobbery to suggest they work on that - it's helping them to improve their chances. Women (including some who are arguing it wouldn't be a factor in this thread, I'd wager) have to make snap decisions on messages and it's inevitable and understanable readability will be a factor.

Two of my kids are dyslexic and have trouble spelling. Appalling that anyone would judge someone on their spelling and grammar capabilities. It's a sex site not a book club!!!!" Before I get shot down... I agree. There is a difference between being dyslexic and using text speak. Generally you can tell an uneducated profile by the way it is worded. I know some dyslexic people and there are different levels, some are difficultly with certain letters and others may be words. We do come across profiles that are just bad. Also there are many friendly people on here so if a dyslexic person has a problem just ask someone to send their profile to them in a message and copy and paste. There are many ways to deal with something that hinders you, just ask help. A good friend of mine (RIP) was a well known fisherman and made many many forums, magazines etc. he just did what he could do and got help where needed. No one would know. I take my hat off to him. He never complained about it. He got on with it the best he could.

I reckon that every single reply I've ever had from a woman has said thank you for writing a message that's well written (and polite), so it's evidently important. I think that's fair enough and isn't women being unduly fussy. Well written messages/profiles are easier to read - simple as that.

"Lol. I know this isn't exactly a swinging topic but just viewed yet another profile with awful grammar and spelling. No I'm not a teacher - but does it bother anyone else?" . . Yes . It is not a very encouraging start if spelling is poor and use of grammar is incorrect. . This applies in all walks of life . Some members should maybe have made more effort at school. I have recently purchased a book on the use of grammar in an attempt to improve mine . As you go through life , you should never stop learning .

"Lol. I know this isn't exactly a swinging topic but just viewed yet another profile with awful grammar and spelling. No I'm not a teacher - but does it bother anyone else?" It doesn't bother me, as the vast majority of poorly written profiles are written by men and as such, their lousy profile makes mine look all the better! I don't mind a bit of grammar or punctuation or spelling errors as people use phones which is easy to make mistakes on and spell check sometimes changes words and people post before checking. It's only when the meaning of something is unclear, then if that is a result of errors, they should sort it. After all, the amount of ducks I've been offered is ridiculous!

"Absolute snobbery . " I don't agree. Misuse of words such as 'there', 'they're' and 'their' is basic primary school level education. It's not snobbery (in my opinion) to expect people to be able to use the right one.

"Some people may not be good in Grammar or spelling. But very good in love making and good presentation. Remember this is not a Dating site.looking for a complete package material in a man? I am afraid you are in the wrong place." Well I think you will find that the vast majority of women particularly, on here are interested in the whole package, its been discussed many times. We are not looking for an unattached penis. Inattention to grammar and spelling, because that's what it is, inattention, Is part of what makes a person, the same as height, ethnicity, hair colour etc etc. they are all part of the package. We make a judgement every time we turn someone down or make an approach. We are judging whether we are likely to click with this person or not. We make a judgement about whether it is worth the effort and we do this taking into account all facets of the person they are. Of course there are some people who are just desperate for a fuck, will fuck anyone and anything, but even these are making a judgement

"I wouldn't exclude somebody purely because of poor writing, but it definitely does go towards forming a complete picture of them, and suggesting if we're likely to get on or not. I do tend to feel that it they can't make an effort to write well, then they probably won't make much of an effort to be nice in bed either.... In contrast, having received many messages on Fab, I can't avoid forming the opinion that most men are less bothered about spelling or grammar, but are more interested in whether a woman has nice tits.... " Sometimes a man can spell correctly AND appreciate a nice pair of tits...the new era of male multitasking!

Have you ever seen someone with one leg gaffer taping a broom handle to their body to get about.... no.....If you have a permanent problem then you get the best option having to live with it day by day and not just on fab. Then you have the opposite, if you were to cut your finger opening a tin you would not go to hospital for a skin graft as you know it is temporary. So if you have such a problem then get something with a spell checker or get a better one. I am not sure what you are using on here but to be honest pretty much everything you get these days will sort out most spelling problems etc. Take every opportunity to help yourself rather then be a victim. As for choosing people to meet. There are thousands of people on here so you have to take every possible method to find the right meet for yourself. If you only look for a pulse then who cares about spelling. We look at the whole package. Also we have actually blocked a couple before meeting as our profiles were not fully compatible. Ten we met them at a club and could not add each other to fab as we had blocked them. Now we are great friends. If the chance arose we would probably play as long as it did not alter our friendship but just one item on each of our profiles means I doubt we would. There are always things that put people off. You move on taking the chance that they are not for you. They just might be and that is down to the person reading it. It is their choice. Some people do not like tall people, that is something I can not change, some people only like people with the same colour skin, some people go for people with opposite colour skin, some like certain colour hair, I am a sucker for straight hair, mmmm, not saying if a curly haired person was there I would dismiss them. We are just fussy and with so many people out there you have to be as there are not enough days to meet everyone on fab. Everything abut a profile makes a difference. In a supermarket if a package is not appealing then you may not buy the product unless you know what it is like. Everyone has the right to make a choice. I am going to take a chance and press send knowing that there maybe a spelling error on here as I am on an iPad and so prefer a physical keyboard.

Plus then i would have to chose which i feel is the right spelling of it !!!! I don't have a problem getting meets so i guess my bad spelling has no effect on people wanting to meet me A spellchecker when turned on checks all the text you don't have to pick particular words The spellchecker i have doesn't do that, i have to chose which words to check and also then i usually have to decide which of the words spellcheck offers to me as the correct spelling Anyway i have no problems getting meets and i am very choosy who i meet so i guess my dreadful spelling isn't off putting to many people If I was dyslexic then I would have made an effort to get a decent spell checker. I am going to take a chance and press send knowing that there maybe a spelling error on here as I am on an iPad and so prefer a physical keyboard." I am not a "victim" at all in anyway (if anyone thinks i am a victim then that is their problem not mine lol) and i don't think of my bad spelling as a "problem" when writing here on Fab, if i am writing an important letter/email then i get my hubby to check what i have written he checks that it is spelt right and makes sense and that i have used the right word to portray the meaning i intend (write or right etc), that has worked well so far and being as i rarely use my spelling (lack of) skills in my job then it has never been a probem for me or anyone else I am educated to a very high standard and continually have to do training in my job, i do everything well and pass everything i do usually in the higher levels of it too..... despite my spelling ! I have very high standards regarding who i meet, they do have to have a pulse but also have to be polite, sexy and fun as well as meeting all my other likes and dislikes. Nost of all they have to be non judgemental Just because i don't use a spellchecker here doesn't mean i am a loser

"[Removed by poster at 06/01/15 12:00:26]" You think it's important but you can't spell grammar? LOL I prefer good spelling and grammar but in all honesty there are more important things, I would be highly unlikely to reject someone based on their spelling/grammar in reality.

I have a broken ankle at the moment so I use a crutch to get around, why wouldn't I? "Question for people insisting on good grammar and spelling. If you meet someone good in grammar and spelling. But crap on bed or meet up with someone terrible at grammar and spelling but good in bed.which will you go for? I presume a lot will go for the guy good on bed Remember this is not a Dating site. But swing site. Don't expect too much. If prerequisite for good grammar and spelling is a priority for meeting up with guys on fab.you better off on dating site" It might be a simple fuck from anyone with a pulse you are looking for. We are different. We expect a little more starting with a pleasant personality, some intelligent conversation and finishing with some great sex. You use the site your way & are perfectly entitled to your opinion but we will use it our way thanks.

The spell checker highlights a mis spelt word, I know its not fool proof and does not help with punctuation or grammar but its a start. And yes I do understand the difficulties faced by those with dyslexia.

"I don't mind unless I don't understand. I am French and try my best with my grammar, my spelling and my punctuation. It would be a shame to judge me on my poor English so I tend not to judge others on theirs. But I must admit I do have a lot of fun correcting British people when they do make a spelling/grammar mistake " Nobody can get upset where English is not a persons first language least of all us (Mrs J speaks a few languages but English is not her mother tongue). Nor should anyone get upset where a person is dyslexic however the vast majority of poorly spelt, grammatically slapdash are from Brits. We are not expecting anything special but where even a single simple sentence appears beyond capability of the writer then we will draw our own conclusions.

"Woah folks!! Thank you all so much for putting in your opinions but I feel this thread has become a runaway train!! I'll refer you all back to my original post - all I asked was if it bugged anyone else. At no point did I say I would block or not respond to someone who can't spell or that it's part of my selection criteria!!! I'm pretty literate and it's just a pet hate - but I don't judge when someone can't spell. As many have pointed out there's dyslexia (or my favourite dailysex!) or loads of other reasons. I use my phone and it takes time to make sure everything is typed correctly. Sometimes if I'm tired I don't bother as much! This all came about as I'd had several messages along the lines of: U so fukin sxy u wan it Ma cok is hrd al gi u a cin 2 Strangely enough those put me off. I like to be able to chat - not looking for a forever just to be comfortable. Can't quite get to a meet and pull my knickers down and open my legs!!! " Personally he needs specsavers pmsl

I've been jumped on for correcting people, in the past - to be honest, I don't really care. However, things like misuse of their/there and your/you're and no/know ..do tend to grate a little. But then I am a teacher of sorts... That said, I'm not the best when it comes to grammar.
