Is it just me or would you rather messages you send be deleted rather than read but then not replied to.

At least when their deleted you know the persons not interested.

I don't mind either way.

What bugs me is the ones that never get read.

All that should concern you is a reply. You'll go mad if you dwell on the other options!

I think there should be an option to delete after read, but it automatically sends a polite reply saying no thanks for you.

Delete with no reply or delete with auto reply

If they have read and deleted it is obvious they are not interested. Why the need to state it again?

We are guilty of reading and not replying. We rarely delete messages.

Because some men send well written and thought out messages, it would just be courtesy to send something back, as oppose to just deleting without even looking. What harm can it do

Funnily enough I was thinking about it earlier, it would stop people over thinking things.

Replying to people means they can break though any filters you may change at a later date. A good reason for not replying and just deleting.

No reply is a reply. It means the person is not interested. Accept that and you may enjoy the site more. It's actually in the site FAQ's.

What bugs us are the ones who reply you exchange a number of emails then nothing.

Never sure how long to wait before blocking, not bothered if they are no longer interest.

Let's face it..you as a single man are hardly likely to get the volume of messages that a woman or couple will, so giving a polite reply to every single message is much more feasible...

You try replying to over 400 messages and still have your sanity as still more pour in even though I have filters!

Don't get me wrong I'm not disagreeing or being arrogant but reality is reality.

So a female who receives 100 fancy a fuck messages has to reply to them all or she is seen as not courteous. Don't think so! Again read the FAQ.

It's probably just something I need to get used to, after all, i've got used to having them deleted or read and not getting a reply.

I guess it's just that I put effort into my messages, so it's a little disappointing if they don't get read, but I'll get over it

I have several unopened messages. From what I can see they're not "wanna fuck" type messages but I read the profile before the message. Not one comes close to what I'm looking for and I have filters!

My profile states: if you're not what I'm looking for I won't reply: and I don't!

Anyone meeting my criteria always gets a message: works for me!

Just delete your sent box regularly. Then you won't be tempted to keep refreshing it to see if the messages have been read.

This subject comes up so often that I'm starting to think that an automatic "no thanks" button with an option to also block might be useful as long as it didn't count as a response and allow the recipient to get round filters in future.

I think its very easy to wonder why people might check if a message has been read if you receive hundreds yourself. But it must be quite soul destroying for people to send out message after message that gets deleted unread or read and never replied to. If that happened to us regularly we'd have given up long ago.

Solution = dont look. I get rejected often. (Not so much on this site) If its getting too much for you then you should maybe leave for a little while till you're more positive. Rejection is part of everyone's life one way or another but your attitude towards it aftects your emotions. So realise the only control you have is how you feel about it.

What I hate is when you message someone on your friends list and it doesnt get read, usually because they have a high volume of mail

I think messages from friends should show as a different colour, rather than yellow

I don't think it's rude or discourteous not to reply. My profile states that if I'm not interested I will not reply, if people then object to my deleting their message then they didn't read my profile properly or ignored it!!!!

Fab needs to get rid of the sent box. Too many sensitive souls on here, who just wanna sit there checking to see if messages are read/deleted/ignored.

As a single lady, when i show that I'm online, the messages start appearing. If I'm lurking in the forums and haven't replied, some senders send me duplicate messages, so the messages quickly mount up. I'm here at my own leisure, I'll reply as and when, AFTER reading the profile and 99% of the time, the profile is of no interest to me. I prefer to send out first messages, rather than receive.

Thanks or that advice but we were just sympathising with the men it happens to, not complaining. We assume that if a

message we send isn't replied to the person is no longer interested and leave it at that but if it happened regularly we would give up since there's no point flogging a dead horse.

Judging by the number of I-never-get-a reply/meet threads, there are quite a few dead-horse floggers on this site..
