There were a couple in Scotland. 1st one was fantastic. A night club was hired. Everyone was black tie with masks. Even had a burlesque show.

Unfortunately some small minded person outed the 2nd. But we all managed to have a great night as a very smart social pub crawl

Look in the clubs section on here for City Slickers parties. They run regular eyes wide shut style parties. Haven't been ourselves, but the reviews are good.

been an idea we've kick around for a while but the logistics and costings could be a nightmare. We were shocked at the amount of people who believed entry to a Dutch club was to much for UK market!!

There's no such thing as high class, or so called exclusive events. KK and others just promote themselves in this way to entice people in - any idiot can go as long as you pay.

They're not high class or exclusive in any way. I've been to most of the so called high-brow events in London and there's nothing classy about them I can assure you.

It's false advertising.

As a side note Xtasia's NYE event is a masqueraade / black tie event and is always packed, lots really make the effort to dress up ( even i jamie wear a mask lol )

Have to agree with other posts though just because its masks etc does not make it high class, its more about the people that attend and the level of effort put in to dress code

My thoughts exactly. High class people don't mix with hoi polloi such as us

I might just scrape into a Middle class event if I keep my mouth shut and they don't have a strict weight code

Such a nice concept but difficult to measure everyone's expectations and then deliver the evening desired.

That's the thing different folks different strokes dress code easy but classy is just like beauty all in the eye of the beholder . Great thread thought tyxx

Love the idea of this always imagine it to be like the masquerade ball scene in Van Helsing where everyone is dressed up in velvet & satin and picture it in a gothic castle or church with burlesque performers.

It's not about the money - it's about the people / atmosphere / etc .... Clearly this is more difficult than anticipated. Perhaps such events are more private on a word of mouth basis ??

There's a fine line between 'class' and 'crass'.

If you find an event that tends more toward the former - count me in!

If you think of a club cost for entry, I suspect you'd, at least, need to double / treble it for sorting out such a one off event. I'd be willing to pay any amount that reflects good value, and I wouldn't want anyone really making major profit from such an event.

After spending quite some time looking in the past, we think the truth is that there really aren't that many events of this type in this country. Or at least, not ones that come close to the EWS scenes we're all familiar with.

There are events in the UK and Europe that provide these type of parties.

They are usually invite only or you have to know the right people to get to know about them.

You wont find them via free swing websites thats for sure.

Stand for parliament ?

Get a top job in broadcasting ?

Win lots of money and become a socialite ?

Move to London ?

Or Sandbanks ?

Get yourself seen in Hello or Cheshire Life ?

Organise one yourself with a few select friends ?

Every couple brings another couple not known to the others.

Start off small and work at making it bigger over time

I would think you've got to be looking at around 100 quid a couple without hotel costs to get something really good going,

Then it's all a matter of what people want, do people want a party that is just themed, or do they want the whole 9 yards ball room and orchestra type party

If a secure payment and holding site was used like a few of the festivals and parties we have been to people would feel a lot more comfortable.

That could work. We've also used and paid for festival tickets through EventBrite, this is how Swingfields sold their tickets this year.

See, to me, that is the challenge.

Effectively, the venue risks being tarred with the wrong brush if it is found supporting such events.

Ideally places like a wedding venue which offers limited sleeping accommodation but has a decent function space would be ideal.

BUT how is this managed ?

It only takes 1 catering assistant with a gob on them to ruin the venues reputation in the eyes of many.

Hence why, I suspect, many are held in private venues.

It is his or her arse on the line, their workplace or businesses reputation on the line.

If I had to make a call on it and it was my livelihood that could suffer at the expense of supporting someone elses lifestyle, I am afraid I would act on the side of caution.

That said, I hope you find somewhere supportive, as there does seem to be a lot of support for such a venture.

It only take 1 person to open their mouth and that's it!

A Scottish social was going go be held in such a place, word got out and it was in the papers, and the event had to be cancelled "

There was an event down South in a very nice hotel - word got out and event was cancelled and people lost the money they paid in to go.

Wont work in a hotel as if word gets out the management will "run for the hills"

How about renting a country house for the weekend ?

I have seen a 14 bedroom country house for rent for 2 nights in March (a Fri & Sat night) for £1,800

That's just over £100 a couple for the accom.

North area - within an hour of Manchester /Leeds / Sheffield

Private, undisturbed and no questions asked

If people don't want to stay 2 nights, let the organisers stay for the first to get everything sorted and then arrive masked up on the Saturday eve

If you wanted more than 28 people, there are many hotels . b&b's nearby

We aren't interested btw - just tryin to offer suggestions for those that are !

Once the couples are decided on, maybe get take applications from 4/6 tasty single men to 'wait' on the guests too ?

The ladies get to short list and choose

No touching of the guests allowed : at least until later in the evening

I know that's awfully chauvanistic of me towards single guys, but am sure there must be applicants out there, somewhere, willing to wear a tux and a mask whilst serving canapes and champers

I would happily pay £100 for this and any extras who attend who don't stay on site could pay say £30 per couple and that would pay for said canapés and champagne, would happily help organise

"Anyone know of any very classy black tie or masquerade swingers events - eyes wide shut type ?? "

We are attending the Masquerade Party at Vanilla Alternative on New Year's Eve, and it's a black tie do too.

Would be great but and here the "but" it's all done to one party to carry the risk. What happens if say 10 cpls do not turn up who carries the loss ?

Also insurance ?

Sorry, to be the "fly in soup", but just thinking as my hubby arrange something (Not vanilla "eyes Wide Shut" but like Skin Two) like this in Switzerland (before anyone asks, he speaks fluently several languages and lived there) and the "arrangers" just covered costs nothing else and still had to cover small costs (water/heating etc) out of their pockets.

Naughty
