Condoms, just how often do they break?

We all hear comments about condoms breaking or we fear that they might break, but just how often does it happen?

Have to say that in my own experience, it's only happened to me once, and that was when Kate and I were courting, some 30yrs ago now.

Even then, when I looked at the packet of "jonnies" I bought in the pub toilets, it actually stated on the packet, that they were "French Ticklers" and should not be used for contraceptive purposes

Wonder how many were caught out by them

What are your experiences? Have you had many failures?

Perhaps I'm a gentle fuck though

None for me so far, however, 4 packs of 12 lasted nearly a year, so I am not exactly a big user of the stuff!

Incidentally, I have never relied on the condom as the only method of contraception.

its happened to me 3 times, only once with a meet. different brand condoms too

i've also got so tight that a condom has slipped off as i had kinda gripped it inside me lol - luckily we noticed before he tried to go back in!

I have had a few break but always replaced and I have had one fall off and stay inside me which was'nt good and want to know how safe they are in the jacuzzi with the cloreine

When Utopia first opened the club supplied free condoms, they must have been pretty low quality because we had 3 break in quick succession and heard from many others who had the same problem, we all told the club but they carried on giving them away for a long time, probably because they came in a little "utopia" packet with directions to the club printed on (why you need directions to the club you are in always made me wonder" and instructions not to use them with lubes such as Butter which I also thought was funny

Quality condoms tend not to break but even one can have devastating results if your using them with the wrong people

On one night when we first started swinging,they must have dodgy because 2 literally shredded

hav'nt had a problem since and the ones I prefer to use now seem indestructable

Its keeping an eye that they're still im place thats worries me more,but that no more nails is great stuff

We never have anal sex while playing, but I would imagine that in anal sex play there could be a few breakages, bearing in mind lubrication issues.

Any body had any failures with this form of play?

ive never had a condom break, i've had a few come off and be left inside me, not regular tho i think thats only happened 3 times in 10 years of swinging

i love anal and ive never had one break while doing anal, infact ive never had one come off during anal either

When a this came up in a similar topic a couple of months ago we were surprised how many people DO just use condoms as their main form of contraception when swinging. Surely that's a bit risky? They do break, not often granted, but even rarely is too often in our book to rely on them as the main form. I imagine the Jeremy Kyle show.. "I had sex with 5 men while swinging - now who's the Daddy?"..

Anyway, we have had 2 break in the last 10 years. Once when we were courting too, the other time a couple of meets into our swinging adventure. Thank heavens for the pill (and the GUM clinic!).

In three years of swinging I've never had one break.

One slipped off because my playmate bought an extra large condom when an average one would have been roomy enough.

I only do anal with my regular playmate without incident. Oil based lube can affect the condom, so I always use a water based one!

It always makes me shake my head when i here of people using a condom as their only form of contraception when swinging

I have to agree, i would never reply on condoms as my main form of contraception, swinging or other wise, tho i find them to be pretty reliable there has been times in the past, be them few, where condoms have gone missing and i've had to fish them out it only takes once to get pregnant and i would never want to spend the rest of my life bring up a mistake! sounds harsh but its facts

Never used condoms until we started swinging and not had one split or break in any way yet.

Before the head shaking start's about not using condoms before our lifestyle change, Jez and I took contraceptive precautions until we got married and started a family 23yrs ago.

We have had a few break.

Once was a total accident (just happened) and the guy was most shocked and apologetic) Suz got checked out and all ok.

The others were a couple of males that always seemed to have problems and although we stopped them imeadiately and they put on new ones, we couldn't understand why. Then it dawned on us. They didn't squeeze the air out of the teat when putting on.

Then when they push in that can cause the teat to burst.

Seems its an old trick for men that want to 'impregnate the lady'!!

We always check now and to be fair it was just two guys that 'didnt like using condoms because they 'always split' don't bother with them at all now not worth it.

I've used Durex condoms all my life & not 1 has ever split or torn. Never tried any other brand. I don't think it's down to luck, they're just really well made.

Only happened once in my (G's) experience - one broke during the first fuck of a one-night-stand about 15 years ago, so we didn't bother using condoms for the rest of the night, no problems. It was a Durex, but not sure which variety. Fortunately it hasn't happened since. Maybe they were less well made in the past?

I can recall one coming off inside a girl when I was in my teens, probably due to inexperience!

split 4 in one session once. it was the condoms i always use and someone i see regularly....so i don't know what the cause was...unless we were being a little friskier than usual?
