The Recent pregnancy post got me thinking....which is very rare

BUT

After reading the odd person ending up pregnant for whatever reason, has anyone ever caught any STD 's and did it put you off swinging or make you have doubts, even if you were taking precautions etc....

I do hope this has come across right as my first post, so please be gentle with me

Just curious to people's thoughts on this and any downside etc

I have never caught an STI,never gotten pregnant and never become attached to anyone. My downside is it makes me very tired

Brighton - even Hove!

Never caught anything but a cold from a meet. A downside is people who let people down although it has only happened to me once. My main barrier to sex is lack of time.

Luckily i've never had an std - and never got pregnant through swinging! I love it! Great social life, great fun, great friendship, great sex! No downside if you practice safe sex! Xxx

I've come down with colds after meets a few times - must be the new germs! Never had anything more sinister than that.

So the main downside is I don't have enough drawer space for all my lingerie anymore

so near and yet so far....

I got pregnant, as the guy jumped me without a condom, and I thought I'd got him off quickly, apparently not quick enough...and I stopped swing for 3/4 years....

Never told the guy, hubs had to block him as he developed a thing for me....

So everything has consequences

Never got an STI or got pregnant, but then again, I do try to be careful

But have felt unfulfilled sometimes so go on regular dates on the side. Or is it that I go on regular dates and have sex from here on the side? Oh, it is all so confusing

We've never had anything more than a cold from swinging-we get checked regularly & suggest everyone does(it doesn't hurt - really !!)

The only downside is not having enough free time to do more swinging

Last year a swinging friend of mine got pregnant had a baby, I made sure I got the implant so instead I ended up with clymidia

which was a relief as im too old to be having babys

never did bareback that I was aware but I admit I was lost in the fun of swinging, was very naughty

nobody will admit to anything like that here, except me as I'm all for awareness . nope it didn't put me off, it made me more aware as a single woman to be more strict, check men are wearing durex with my hand, if I fancy a group session I keep it minimumal too many you get lost in what's happening, look after yourself by being aware what's going on at all times

for a whole year now I've had all clear results to tests 2monthly, infact just been to gum clinic today for my routine check up

couples are lucky as the man can be vigilant for the woman, I see them at partys staying with there partners keeping them safe.Us single woman have a harder task look after number one

The latter is very interesting and accurate as myself, bring a single woman, I am always ensuring condones are worn.

I only do club meets for 99% of the time and for the remainder 1% it is a social drink, that's all.

My friend and I are always looking out for each other but have seen BB going on.

I'm a little shocked by the thought that some do - I never would, they are nowhere near effective enough as contraception!

Yes I worry about catching HIV, when I first started seeing someone on here he never used a condom so I used to get checked at the GUM clinic of course, but I was always worried. Then my hubby convinced me I was pregnant so I went to the doctor and I was realy scared.

was a long time ago though.

I still worry about catching HIV though through oral sex and I know that even if you use condoms you can still catch something.

I'm a little shocked by the thought that some do - I never would, they are nowhere near effective enough as contraception!

nor would i, we all know accident can happen, though I have never had a condom split I have a couple of times had a guy finish and when he has pulled out the condom has still been inside me, of course not ideal and lucky nothing came of it but had i been unlucky to have cought something a course of anti biotics would clear it up (bar HIV of course) an unwanted pregnancy is not so easy to resolve

The only downside I can see is that some people try and remove all the 'romance' from a meet, no kissing, no eye contact, etc, so that it doesn't feel like 'love making' but just seems more anonymous and animalistic. I could imagine that doing this kind of sex too much would give you the same reaction it gives porn stars i.e. it may desensitize you towards sex, meaning that all sex, even 'love making' may become less meaningful for you... at least that's what porn stars report having problems with. That's why I tend to feel it's important to keep all that lovely 'romance' stuff and steer clear from the 'sex as a sport' brigade

I do.

I become ill when I use artificial hormones, I can't have the implant, injections or the copper coil. Had the Mirena coil for a while, it was a nightmare.

Not too worried as I only fell pregnant with medical help, so I think my chances of pregnancy are quite slim to zero.

Often see threads about someone having a meet, then being blocked or ignored afterwards.

Many just move on but I bet there's one or two who it more than bothers

Very true, I must admit to feelings like that. I think you have to think like an auditioning actor, not to take it personally, your face didn't fit or you fluffed your lines? There's always another time, stay positive... Next!

I think the biggest disadvantage is being 'Found out'. I don't mean by friends, colleagues etc. Because we are grown up about this then then we can handle that. Our fear is our kids or friends of kids finding out. No one wants their kids disowning them or their Kids being rejected by friends or bullied because their parents have been recognised.

Do you think that would happen? I don't know how old your kids are ours are mid twenties and if they found out I think they'd be pretty pissed off, kids usually are if they discover their parents are having any sort of sex life, I don't think their friends would reject them though. It's possible that younger children might I guess.

That can be a worry, my son found out, I thought he might not speak to me again, his dad told him that he was ok about it though. Don't think he approves realy though. But he knows what I am realy like even if others don't, because im his mum and we have always been able to talk about most things. It would have been a bit different if he was still at school though.

Downsides for us are ;-

The day after and having to be apart because of work etc...

The monthly visit to the clinic .

The fact that after 3 years of doing this , most other pastimes seem to pale into insignificance by the side of swinging .

We have been extremely vigilant in getting tested since we started swinging . And whether by luck or judgement we are very pleased to report that we have never had an sti . The checks at the clinic , education and an OCD in cleanliness are perhaps the real reason .

No pregnancy either .

It is true that swinging the way we do can desensitise sex , but luckily we have never had this issue with each other . We tend to take a break from swinging when this happens , or try a new kink .

Hell yes weve had it all HIV. Ebola.Berri Berri. Deng fever.Smallpox.Dysentry. Both been pregnant 14 times Died and reincarnated twice.

But out of all this the worse thing its given us is to become habitual liars

Never had an STD or pregnancy but I always play safe anyway.

Have gotten cystitis (urinary tract infection) after particularly good sessions but this is not frequent also get thrush sometimes. Both situations are easy to solve.

When I swing with hubby I sometimes notice there can be a little bit of jealousy...

And finally the last downside for me is the inevitable temptation to compare your lovers.

There is a down side to everything and STDs are caught by swingers and non swingers alike though the sexually transmitted bit in STD tends to indicate its caught through sexual activity not playing cards.
