"Who was behind the whole idea? And how did spade become synonymous with black men? " Stems from "black as the ace of spades". The use spade started in America as a derogatory term.

"I find people want to find offence for the sake of offence. I attended many a party where black guys were calling each other by the N word I'm sure if I said the same I would have been ejected. " That's a context thing though, heard it used many times by black guys talking and referring to white guys as the same. It's about intention really, the word is usually associated (correctly so) as derogatory though

"more political correctness shite..zzzzz Yeah, cos calling someone a spade is really complimentary Calling someone BIG BLACK DICK is? Isn't it degrading beautiful human being to a penis? phew." If they were calling anyone anything then is must be taken in reference. If they are using a term with a history of racism (and violence) then that is mildly different. I think this is 'of an era', where people develop, and as a result realise that once acceptable phrases are now a little 'old hat', mostly due to education and a large dose of equality.

Ok, give me history lesson. Maybe I am missing something. How the term Queen of the spades were used in old times and how it is referred to slavery?
