Sounds more like ligament damage...here speaks the expert who ruptured her acl on her right knee then two weeks later knee gave way resulting in me tearing a ligament in the opposite ankle.

Exactly how mine was....a&e...plus it will be less waiting time than in the morning

Not if it hurts that much. Not like you're going to be able to go to work in the morning like it is anyway right? Go get it sorted then you can sleep in tomorrow. If you leave it it could end up causing more damage.

Personally I'd go tonight - can't a friend give you a lift ? If not , painkillers, Ice and elevate . You might need one of those attractive space boots on it, if it's broken. Let's hope it's just a torn ligament. Hope you manage to get some sleep.

I've done my ankle ligaments a few times and once I was on the floor shaking with the pain.

Alternate ice (to reduce swelling) heat or a neoprene wrap (aid bloodflow for healing) and keep elevated (again for swelling).

Take ibuprofen, alternate/stagger with paracetamol.

When you can get the joint moving and walk on it - with ligaments you need to keep things moving while they heal to prevent scar tissue. Even better, massage it. Find specifically where it hurts and gently massage to increase the blood flow and get all the waste products away. Unfortunately it really hurts.

To be honest, I hope it is a break: with a break it will be much better in 3-4 weeks and properly healed in 5-6. With a stretched or torn ligament(s) it can take an awful lot longer and can be weakened for a year or two.

Good luck getting sorted.
