If this is a contact site, you see a profile and like it, what is so wrong with a short simple message to see if there is any interest? So many people seem to want chapter and verse 'showing effort'

Sounds awful, but we tend to go straight to profile and look, review and decide, then delete or read lol

"Sounds awful, but we tend to go straight to profile and look, review and decide, then delete or read lol "

It's not awful - it's common practice for many!

It's a good start point. If they are the polar opposite of what you seek? Delete.

If not - read the message. If it's a crap one liner or they blatantly haven't read a word of your text. Delete.

If it's an ok message - reply.

It's a pretty simple formula really.

A

I don't want or expect a novel I just want a friendly decent message with a face picture attached as I do like to know what someone looks like, I find that to be quite helpful when deciding if there is any attraction.

I'd share a story with you.

But that's my point! If message is purely a 'flag' what's wrong with 'crappy one liner' ? Agree with not having read profile!

Something has to create a spark of interest, a 'Hi, how are you?' type one line message just doesn't cut the mustard.

"But that's my point! If message is purely a 'flag' what's wrong with 'crappy one liner' ? Agree with not having read profile!"

People like to think the person messaging them is interested in THEM - rather than just in meeting SOMEONE for sex.

A one liner doesn't show effort, has no personal touch and is likely to have been sent to many, many profiles in the hope one replies!

I don't see what is wrong with a simple message to see if we are interested at all.

We never try jumping though hoops to meet anyone & don't expect anybody to do so to meet us either

I've spent almost a year chatting to a lady before we met and another I sent a fancy a fuck message and both worked. There's no hard and fast rule, you have to be flexible in your approach.

It can be short and simple and still show imagination and personality. I've had some 1 or 2 line messages that have been far better than some that go on for much longer.

Women, especially newbies, are bombarded with crappy one liners. We are talking 500 plus in less that 24 hours. Most if not all do not read the profile. They just bombard all new women with a shite message hoping they are naive enough to respond and meet. It's the numbers game. They have put zero effort into their profile. Then you get them whinging on here that they can't get a meet.

What's wrong with it? If you are not interested in the person you want to meet then go find an escort.

There are those looking for relationships. Many of us aren't. It doesn't mean that we will fuck anyone though.

Maybe respect that person's wishes and move on. They want a decent messagecand you don't want to send one, it's effectively another filter. Like attracts like

No it's about respecting peoples preferences. If it's on their profile no one liners and you send one - guess what! It gets ignored. That's if people even bother to read profiles. If people respected others preferences they would be more successful

"I'm beginning to think Fab is morphing into a dating site lol"

It's more like a dating site because people expect a message which suggests it is them in particular you are interested in rather than just sex with anyone???

If you opened your inbox each time to 10,20,30,40,50+ "hi how's you" messages how quickly do you think you might start to find it tedious?

I'm not looking to date, I have a partner already, I'm looking for great sex which requires rapport with the guy I am going to meet. How can you establish that from "hi how's you/howz u", what sets that message sender apart from the thousands of guys who send the same message - should I trawl thro all those profiles just on the off chance that one guy might have a half decent profile?

I like to be mentally stimulated otherwise I find the sex tends to be crap for an actual meeting.

"Hi, let's chat" doesn't stimulate me at all.

If someone doesn't have a sense of humour and there isn't some serious back and forth banter, I'm not going to want to meet someone.

But that's just me.

I especially hate it when someone can't even be bothered to read my location, to read that I can't travel and to read that I'm not single.

So I get "Wanna meet?" from a guy 230+ miles away as an opening line.

I get a lovely cut and paste message explaining how wonderful the guy is an how much he likes my profile. When we get chatting he asks if I'm single. So, you really read my profile then, huh?

If I message a guy I like to try and make him laugh or ask him something specifically about him or his photos.

You get what you put in I think?

I'm sure plenty of guys would be quick to complain if we had a meet and I just lay there and stared at the ceiling. I am not motivated to put the effort in if they don't!

I think far many people on here enjoy finding reasons not to meet people, them because it gives them the thrill to reject people (schaudenfreude) or to watch them jump through hoops with no achievable goal.
