Two sides to swinging...??

Is internet swinging a lot more thought out than club/social flirting. Many complain about poor emails, ones too short, those written in txt spk etc. I wonder if the same people that dislike these things maintain the same standards and rules in other settings? Has passion or the raving sexiness of a person ever taken over and you overlooked the poorly spelt message? . For example have you ever dismissed an email because it was in txt spk. Is that the same as when meeting in person and being greeted by a 'ello darling???

I don't tend to ignore any emails (what single guys have the chance to?) but whilst I always try to send mails of at least 3 or 4 centences, i have never had an initial mail from anyone else which consisted of more than 10 words, usualy less. Amost every one of these mails have come from people (always couples) ask for interesting mails etc.

Double standards are just something one has to put up with............

no, i double check the profiles, if that's also lacking of information i can the message as there's nothing for me to respond to.

i have replied to one in text talk before and explained that the short time it took him to type it doubled my time tryint to decipher it...we still speak...but he's no longer clipping his words

I would much rather have a short message from a decent profile that I can read

I don't want to have to read pages and pages and the worse ones are the ones that say I really hope you reply,they just make me feel guilty if I don't want to reply but then again I would never send anyone a message saying that

Im the type that does'nt worry about it,if I get a reply then cool If I don't ive more than likely forgotten about it as soon as ive sent it anyway

Txt speak is generally ignored in a message,I prefer to converse with someone more articulate than that,but I know its how some people type when using pcs

I love the ones that say - take a look at my profile and get back to me if youre interested - you look and their profile consists of "single guy looking for nsa fun"

what is there to be interested in ?

And to answer the original question - yes if someone came up to me in a club or party and said - alright doll, take a look at me standing over there and if you're interested come over and shag me - then Im afraid that aint gonna interest me either.

In both scenarios - a bit of effort is required.

Surely if someone can make the effort then you read it regardless of spelling, punctuation text speak or otherwise. If it's interesting you carry on the chat if not BIN

text speak can be difficult to understand so that probably the big issue (& it's only £1.75)

If I understand what's being said the the bad spelling or text speak doesn't matter but sometimes it is so bad I just can't understand it and therefore bin it, but messages written in the Queens English and without any "text abbreviations" cannot be understood either, I quote your own post

do you mean the Big Issue magazine for the homeless (that's only a £1) or one of the many books you can buy decyphering text words ? and am I really expected to buy such a book just to understand e-mails we get ?

to answer the OP's question, if someone approaches us at a club and says "fancy a shag" our answer is thanks but no thanks just the same as it is online (unless they are friends of course because then we know that there is a large element of humour in the question)

I dont like text speak simple because messages reflect a person and most people who message in text speak are usually young, and i dont do younger guys, i very rarely find mature people message in text speak

Text speak is just plane lazy and nowadays there isn’t much excuse for poor spelling and lack of punctuation. Typically when sending an email its generated on a PC and as such there is typically access to a word processor.

But I’ve got to agree with the other posters comment, sending text speak might save the writer a second or two, “Hi mate” or “Hi M8” oh look, I saved myself the time it takes to type two letters there! But it adds to the reading time.

The basis of ‘good manners’ is that one should be as helpful to another as possible, therefore not making a letter as easy to read as possible is quite simply bad manners and impolite, do we want to have sex with such people?

I would agree with that the format of a message tells nearly as much about a person as the content.

What people really do not seem to "get" on this site (and others, of course) is this:

First Impressions Count.

This means your intro email, your profile and your photos. Why don't people get it?

BTW we've found that while younger people may be guilty of txt speak, the older generation seems to be guilty of a lack of ability in composition and spelling (generalisation, of course, for those that like to pounce on other's postings) but the two different ends of the spectrum do seem to have their own problems.

with messages on here before i reply i check the profile if the interests dont match mine or something doesn't interest me then i reply being polite.

one line messages i don't reply to and the ones that say look at my profile and get back to me as i find that lazy

when i mail people i try to make my message interesting and to the point

Completely agree !! On the rare occasions we get a message (who wants softswing after all ? ) we not only look at the message, but also the profile, validations and pictures.

It's far far better to be a softswinger than someone who thinks "lf fun" is an apt description of what they are after
