Wash with warm soapy water regularly, wrap cling film round the tattoo for the 1st 24-48 hrs, apply bepanthen after each time you've washed it, if you keep upto this your tattoo shouldn't scab

Once it starts healing apply moisturiser regularly x

best cream I used was bepantham

used at least3 times a day

don't have a bath for a few days, shouldn't be submerged in water for long period of time.

Having a shower dap with a soft sponge and soapy water

To dry, towel dry, but dap the tattoo, don't rub it x

Thanks hun, if the tattoo does scab does it matter? Will it effect the tattoos look? Xx

It will scab naturally over the next few days. Don't worry about that though. Just resist the temptation to pick at it. If you do that you could slightly affect the colouring

It shouldn't with this treatment, but if it does "don't pick it"

Wash it, then cover in bapanthan and wrap cling film round leave over night. Wash again in morning and pat dry. Keep applying cream whenever dry !! If it scabs it can affect the healing and scaring can mess colour up x

A seaside town near you!

Bepanthen is definitely the best cream to use. Mine hardly scabbed at all using that !

Bepantham is best. Keep it moist with the cream, after a few days will look like it is starting to peel a bit like sunburn. Keep up with the cream for at least a couple of weeks in total and it should heal up fine.

Tattoo goo or E45 is the best for it, wash gently with warm soapy more morning and night then pat dry! If you should stick to sheets or clothing dont pull away get in the shower and dampen til it releases!

Cling film really should not be used other than to keep it clean on the way home from tattooist! It needs air to breathe and heal properly! Putting the cling film on can make it sweat and cause bacteria and infection... I was married to a tattooist so lived in that world for a long time!

24-48hrs? Nobody has ever said that before. Clingfilm should only be left on for a couple of hours. Keep it clean is the important thing bepanthen applied liberally help a lot don't scratch is also a biggy

Keep it well aired! Don't pick the scabs! Let any scabbing fall off naturally otherwise the tattoo will look patchy. Don't overdo the bepanthen.

It'll scab after a few days and should start flaking off after a week.

Follow your tattooists advice.

I always use tattoo goo on mine. Stops it itching and reduces scabbing

Also

If u use the bepantham cream and you find it a bit thick

Warm it on a radiator for a few minutes

It's easier to apply

Don'y use too much bepanthen. A thin layer is all you need. Gentle cleaning beforehand. Make sure it's dry (again, no rubbing!) before applying any cream or moisturiser (I normally switch to an unscented one rather than the bepanthen once it starts scabbing). Whatever you do, don't pick or scratch and get ready with high factor suntan lotion.

I was told not to use e45 as it being petroloum based it can draw the colour out? Not sure how true but I stuck with better safe than sorry. Also I was told to keep cling filming much longer than my friends ever were again in not sure on how correct but it came out well and healed quickly so hmmm with most things I think everyone will have slightly different methods

Okay..... don't keep cling film on it! Let it scab. Make sure your hands are clean when you apply bepanthan a couple times a day for the best part of a week. I also recommend submerging it in really hot water if it's stinging badly, but depending on the size, may not be needed.

E45 is amazing and the colour on mine contests it works, bepanthen isnt great for the long term of the tattoo!

Theres a lot of new artists who say to keep cling film on basically to try and stop the scabbing etc again in the long term this isnt good, plus a sweaty damp mess on what is basically a wound is a breeding ground for bacteria and infection!

I have over 100 hours of ink and never keep mine wrapped for longer than 3 hours. I use Bepathan but only for about a week until the sunburn like scabbing appears then I switch to a light plain moisturising cream. Because Bepanthan is quite heavy if you don't warm it up it can cause the scabs to come away.

Essentially a tattoo is like an open graze wound. So treat it as such, let it breathe and don't use Vaseline on it.

I've switched from Bepanthen to vaseline intensive repair moisturiser as recommended by my tattooist. Heals much faster. Doesn't scab.
