my paths never cross... only my swinging friends know the truth and i like the fact i can be honest with them ...i have to tell my family and vsanilla friends a few little porkies !!!

Hubby and I have told 1 special friend each. We know they will keep the secret cause there is the trust there. Plus we know secrets about them that we keep so it evens out. Our kids don't know and never will. Our daughter(19) babysits for us when we go 'bowling'!!!LOL If family found out they would be horrified!!!

My personal life is just that: not to be discussed and disected with my family and friends.

Friends do keep reminding me that sheltered housing and a weekly trip to the local Caribbean Club is all I have to look forward to so I should find myself some old duffer and settle down.

I think they'd all have heart failure if I told them in detail about my erm...let's call it hobby!!

yeah but can get sticky(pardon the pun) when asked about the bowling match by the in-laws. I just say we have great fun and get plenty of 'strikes'!!!

Bumped into a friend on my way back from my favourite sex shop. Told her I'd just bought some object d'art - first thing that sprung to mind.

It's surprising the people that some swingers tell. I took a lovely woman to Partners in Bury one night - she was so knocked out with it that she went back the next night with her sister! And another friend of mine lives with her 22-year-old daughter and both of them have profiles on another site (aff) - although to my knowledge they don't go out on dates together!

We made the mistake of telling a very close female friend a few years back. We felt we had to share with someone and chose her because she is very open minded and thought she would get it. Started off OK, was even interested in details like how it all works, what happens when you meet people and what we had got up to. But then we saw less and less of her and when we confronted her some months later she admitted it had weirded her out slightly, so even though we are friends again we tend to not mix the two.

As for family.. wasn't so bad before we had a family of our own, we could just take off for a weekend or something, but now we need to come up with excuses for why we need a babysitter, which leads to who we are meeting, how we know them etc.. Our friends must think we have a massive family spread all over the place, and our family must think we are the most social people on earth the number of friends we have in Manchester, Birmingham and everywhere in between. And we have been to more 'weddings' (great one for explaining a night away) than the local vicar..

Yes I would imagine it's a lot easier when you are a 'singleton'. We have to protect the kids primarily cause if it got out and other kids heard their parents talking about it ...... Well as you can guess it would get to school and their lives would be hell. Kids can be very nasty.

Hi, new here, well on the forums anyway, only my second post, please be gentle lol

We try to keep the two totally separate, to the extent of having two mobile phones and two facebook profiles each. Not long after we joined La Chambre, but long before we were ready to meet people with a view to playing, one of Al's friends saw our members card in Al's wallet on a night out and started asking questions. The point at which he asked Al if he could "have a go" with me, as though I was a car that he could take round the block for a quick spin or something, was when we decided that there was going to be no mixing of the two lifestyles.

There are a few long standing, open minded friends who can be trusted to say nothing who know what we get up to, but otherwise, no one is any the wiser. It helps that we don't have children so never need babysitters and we live at least 10 miles from our nearest family members and nucleus of friends so it's quite easy to keep the two separate - we just say nothing.

And because we're new to the area that we live in our "busy social life" is nothing unusual to the neighbours as it's been like that since we moved in, and, as we're renting a detached house, we can't be overheard

One of Mrs C's friends know about our lifestyle choice. She has been there when Mrs C has met somebody on a night out, so needed to know about it. She's not judgemental, even though she's made it clear that it's not something she's interested in doing.

Another couple should have been able to work it out as we've both let slip various pieces of information which, on their own, are innocuous but when pieced together would paint a very different picture. So far, however, they've not made the connection.

We were at a bbq not so long ago when the topic was raised. I was the designated driver so hadn't been drinking, which meant I didn't just open my mouth and blurt out anything. I was thinking about saying something until everybody else started saying how wrong they thought it was. I figured it was best to just keep my gob shut.

As for family members knowing about it, well there's absolutely no chance of that happening. But we're not the sort of family who discuss the ins-and-outs (so to speak) of our sex life anyway.

Well tbh I've got two groups of friends, one group I can tell ANYTHING so they get the truth, and the other group who I don't trust that much yet, they usually get told I've got 'plans' or 'I'm busy that night' etc.

People do eventually travel from one group to the other, but only after I'm VERY sure they can handle it and won't use it against me.

our families know i (netty) am bi but dont know i've dont anything about it. his mother asked us outright if we were swingers. omg. i went bright red and had to leave the room and he said "what?" apparently she told his niece we went to clinks (the old swingers club that closed)in fact it was zyncs (fab soc venue and normal nightclub) so explained it was a normal nightclub not a swingers club. and that was that. phew!

no one in my vanilla life knows about what I do...well, except for one mum from my son's preschool...as I ran into her at a swinger's club one night...lol..

I think for me it is a bit easier to have a double life as not from here originally, so most of my friends and all my family are in Canada. My ex has the kids on the weekend so I am free to do as I like. I have had to come up with a story about having a lot of male friends as the woman I am friends with next door started questioning the male traffic...lol( I said yeah...I just have always had more male friends than female friends...yeah wouldn't it be great to have that many male admirers...he he he...she just laughed and I did my evil laugh in my head..lol)

I have one very old freind that knows and been part of a 3some with us. But dont tell the family as they would go through the roof. But as have a office in house and hubby off every second week that why have lots of visitors to house discussing business and for training purposes

Here’s a little story that I’ve posted before in a similar thread so I apologise for boring any one who heard this one before…

We arranged with a regular friend of ours to fix us up with a ‘cream pie’. While this took place I popped out of the house. I genuinely had to see a neighbour about something so I went and did that.

Neighbour: Hi Dave, got time for a cup of tea?

It's kinda funny for us as everyone knows we go to fetish clubs - we post photos on facebook, have reading material on bookshelves, you can see our collection of boots at the door!

And yet noone knows about our "swinger" life. Portugal often says, after a meet, "god I wish I could tell someone, just chat to them".

It's annoying when, say, having a threesome feels so "natural" and "fun" and yet society dictates you absolutely don't tell people.

We don't have a problem talking to friends about it provided they are fellow swingers. We have made friends with swingers who we don't actually swing with, that 'spark' just isn't there but we're still good friends.
