You're not wrong, If anyone messages me I wouldn't ignore them outright- a simply put "Thanks, but it's a no from me" works wonders (well, it does for Mr Cowell anyway. lol)

Trouble is, they're most likely to be the sort that don't read the profiles, let alone the forums.

I always appreciate a polite rejection message, as I realize it's impossible for some, to answer every one (not me! Lol)

Especially vwhen they say they liked the message, as I do try and make an effort with them.

Exactly. Rather counter productive, and, if they applied an ounce of brain power, they may realise that such abusive messages could get them kicked off the site.

If I don't get a reply to a message then fair enough. I'm not going to appeal to everybody in the same way that not everybody will appeal to me.

That's life.

I've received messages from people I have no interest in, but as I am a single guy and therefore receiving considerably less messages than the ladies, I don't need to employ a secretary to manage my inbox, so I always attempt to reply - even if it's a no thanks. In some cases however, it may be difficult to find the right words, so if anything, the no reply is sometimes the best choice.

I'd rather get nothing than receive insults - and I've had a couple of those

This is a great explanation of why us single guys should not expect a response. It would be great if everyone had the time to respond. But with so many messages it's unreasonable to expect one. Accept you didn't get one and move on.

I guess its difficult on occasion for couples who are fortunate enough to get significant numbers of messages daily, and i can understand that there isn't always the time to send a thanks but no thanks reply, as much such messages are preferable to just a delete.

I think us single chaps expect a little much sometimes though, lets be honest chaps, the ones amongst us that do have manners will no doubt send the thanks but no thanks message or some derivative of it, but, we aren't generally managing an overflowing mailbox.

those single guys that are managing such a mailbox, got damn you and your good looks/personality/body/whatever it is that makes you irresistible

I just say thanks but no thanks, take care and happy swinging then block, no comeback then. I find if I don't block, I either get abuse or the Spanish inquisition as to why I'm not interested!! Invariably they'll message again days/weeks later trying to change my mind anyway so its just less hassle to block.

There does seem.to be a few people who look at the message and delete it, I am not asking for the gettysburg address but no thanks would be nice at times.
